I currently have veneers, but would like to have porcelain lumineers fitted instead. Is this an option?

Q.
Hi, is it possible to have lumineers fitted, as i already have porcelain ones which I’ve had almost 10 years but the front one snapped a couple of months ago and its been replaced by an ugly yellow NHS veneer! And also I would like to know what material the NHS veneers are now made of as this seems to be thicker and rough compared with my old smooth shiny ones. Thanks 🙂

Hi. Thanks for your questions.

Without seeing your clinical situation in person I cannot advise if Lumineers would be a suitable option for you. If you have already had conventional porcelain veneer preparations then Lumineers do not offer any advantage to very well made and highly aesthetic porcelain veneers.

The quality of the results you achieve will very much depend on the skill of the dentist and the Ceramist or dental technician who make the veneers, much more so than the choice of porcelain material but this is also a factor. I cannot advise you on the NHS treatment you have already received as there are a myriad of options that the dental technician could have used when making your veneers.

If you want a very high quality result then book an examination and consultation with an experienced cosmetic dentist to find out what can be done.

Kind regards

Mark
