My Front Tooth Sticks Out. I’d Like To Know A Way To Fix It Without It Being Extracted?

Friday, May 2nd, 2014
Q.

Hello. I’m 47 and one front tooth sticks out really bad, my dentist said there is nothing he can do, because of gum problems, apart from taking it out. I tend not to smile very much because its very noticeable and I think its gotten worse over the years. If there is anything you can consider for me to bring my smile back I would be very grateful. If there is something you can do without taking it out? I am really frightened of the dentist at the best of times. He also said a crown would not work because it would make my tooth look long.

How Much Does It Cost To Have A Retainer Fitted And Will I Have To Wear It Forever?

Friday, May 2nd, 2014
Q.

Hello Andrew. I would like my front teeth to be straightened but I am not sure if the six month smile will be the right treatment for me. Do you have to have the brace tightened like with conventional braces and how much does it cost each time this is done? Also, how much will it cost to have a retainer fitted and will I have to wear it forever? If the brace is the same colour as the teeth, is there a danger that the brace will become stained by food and drink?

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

I Have A Misplaced Mid-line Down To Sucking My Thumb. Will My Dentist Allow Me To Get Braces?

Thursday, May 1st, 2014
Q.

Hello Andrew. I like to ask you a question. I’m 14 turning 15, and my teeth are pretty straight for the most part but my incisors are a bit crooked but for the most part, they look straight. My problem is, that I have a misplaced mid-line because I sucked my thumbs for 11 years. I just noticed a couple weeks ago. I measured it and it’s about 3.5mm off. It’s also very irritating to bite because the lip feels weird. My mum pointed out that my face is now a bit asymmetrical. Will my dentist allow me to get braces? Thank you for your time.

I Had Braces When I Was Younger. Now They’ve Moved Back. How Much Will I Be Looking At And Will I Get An NHS Discount?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark,

I wanted to enquire about having fixed braces. I am nineteen years old and a college student. I have had braces before when I was roughly thirteen years old. My teeth have slightly moved due to not wearing my retainer long enough. Would you be able to tell me whether I am able to get braces through the NHS or if I can apply for a certain discount. If not, how much would I be looking at?

Many thanks.

My Canines Stick Out, I Need My Teeth Straightened. What Braces Should I Have To Boost My Confidence?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew, I have canine teeth that stick out a lot on my top teeth and therefore have resulted in slight crowding of my front top teeth. My bottom front teeth are also a little crowded. However, I am not sure which braces will be best for me as it’s only my front teeth which are not straight. I am really worried about my teeth as I don’t like smiling and they affect my confidence in public situations a lot.
I am not keen on having the standard metal braces as I don’t want them to look too obvious. I will be happy to pay £1500 or less to straighten my teeth. Which braces do you think I should have?

My Daughter’s Orthodontist Recommended That She Have Four Teeth Removed. Is This The Right Decision?

Monday, April 28th, 2014
Q.

Hello Andrew. My 16 year old daughter has been referred to her orthodontist following a dental visit. She still has 5 baby teeth. X-ray has confirmed that she has adult teeth waiting to come down, all except one. The orthodontist has recommended she has the four baby teeth removed, two canines and the two either side. There is a tooth in the gum above one of the canines. To have four visible teeth extracted at this age will be so awful and we are in such a quandary as to whether or not we are making the right decision, please can you advise us. Many thanks.

Hi Mark. I Need My Teeth Straightening To Boost My Confidence. Are There Any Innovative Treatments Out There That Can Help Me?

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I am a student with overlapping front teeth
I am interested in treatments to solve this as it affects my self-confidence and I just want a smile that looks great.
I don’t want conventional braces. Price/cost of treatment is also a factor to consider as I am a Student and not really rolling in the paper at the minute.
My lower set of teeth is also out of line, but my real issue is just the two front centre teeth of which one is considerably overlapping the other. Please help, as the profession I wish to pursue is one of self-confidence, image and dialogue. All which are detrimental at the minute because of my teeth. I was going to have braces when I was 11; one of my biggest regrets is allowing the orthodontist at the time put me off as it would of been on the NHS and at a young age. However 10 years later I’m sure there is an innovative treatment that would suffice? Thank you for your time.

I Would Like To Know The Different Costs Of Fixed And Invisible Braces?

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I was just wondering how much teeth straightening would cost. I did have braces when I was 16 but my teeth have spaced out since then. How long would the procedure take and what is the likely cost. What are the different prices for each brace treatment? Invisible braces, fixed braces e.g. and so on? Which is the cheapest and does that include everything involved in the treatment. Would I go straight to an orthodontist for this, or would I get a referral through my dentist first? Thanks.

I Was Meant To Wear My Retainer More. How Can I Get My Teeth Straight Again?

Wednesday, April 16th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Moore. I need your help. My lower left and lower right central incisors have moved back and it looks awful. I had braces for 3 years a while ago and I was meant to wear a retainer, but it slowly stopped being worn. And my teeth have slowly moved out of place. I’m 21 and I really want it sorted. Do you know how much it would roughly cost and is there a way to fix it without having a mouth full of metal? Also I would like to know the cheapest and most effective way possible to fix it. Thank you for helping me with this.
