What would be the cost of implants to replace my partial top dentures?

Thursday, January 3rd, 2013
Q.

I would like to have an idea of how much it would cost for implants. I have a partial top denture at the moment. I have teeth that are causing me problems at the moment as they are slack so I am keeping my options open as to what to do. I do not know if I should go for another denture, it all comes down to cost. I have seen advertisements quoting £1,400 per implant so that would be too costly for the amount of teeth that I would need.

Can bridge be done sooner as wearing dentures affects my talking too much?

Friday, December 21st, 2012
Q.

hi there. 5 of my front upper teeth are crowns, they have knocked and kicked through sport for years. i’m 40 now and the front right socket in my gum that the spike part used to be stuck back into was fractured and has had to be extracted. my dentist is now going to bridge but has said this will take 6 months to heal. my question is can this be done sooner as I own a pub and find it so difficult talking to customers with this plastic denture in my mouth. sorry for the long winded story. thanks

I haven’t visited the dentist in 20 years because of a previous experience, what should I do?

Q.

Hi Dr Bohara, I am a 50 yr old woman, living in northern ireland. About 20 years ago, I had an improperly treated abscess, which resulted in theloss of two teeth and since then have worn a temporary denture, as i have been too scared to go back. This is now causing too many problems, as i think i have gum disease. Is there anything I can do? if its possible, would like dentist to hide behind door as i walk in armed with a rubber hammer lol – the problem is my fear of something similar happening again. Please give me some advice, I need to go to the dentist but I’m so frightened.Thank you

I’m about to have several teeth extracted but why do I have to wait weeks for my new dentures?

Wednesday, October 17th, 2012
Q.

I have finally visited a dentist after 20 years, knowing that many teeth have to be removed. My dentist is nice, but I dont think she realises how terrified I am and have been. I have had three teeth out already, and have a temporary denture, which is white compared to my teeth. Thats okay, I can cope with that. I now have to have five more out. The two front ones and either side. She says I will have to hibernate for a couple or so weeks while I wait for my dentures, but that is putting me off having the teeth removed, never mind the terror I feel about the removals. Also there seems to be choices as to the materials the teeth are made of, which she has not given me the option of. I only know this because i have been researching as you do. A little bit of knowledge and all that. But at the end of the day, its my look and mouth and face. I am worried. Can you help with my concerns.

I also have an overbite.I dont smile properly for pictures and my confidence is very low, can you suggest any treatment that could help. My sister also had similar problem but also had an infection above her front teeth which was separating her teeth even more, she had her problem teeth removed and had a temporary plate fitted and then screw in implants. Im in my late thirties and dont think I could handle wearing a temporary denture plate. Please help!

Friday, September 14th, 2012
Q.

hi,
i would like to ask your opinion on my situation, my dentist says i need all of my teeth removed and to have dentures. i am only 24, my dentist says that i should go to a hospital for the treatment as i have dental phobia. i have had treatment under concious sedation which didn’t work and the dentist wouldn’t treat me. my dentist will not refer me to kings because he says its out of his area, and kings wont take me without a referral. i am in pain with my teeth and struggling to eat, i now have a huge abscess which has returned for the second time. i am just going round and round in circles and feel like i am just being sent away. can you advise me as to what to do.
Many thanks.

What would be the most cost effective way to replace the bottom row of teeth?

Monday, September 10th, 2012
Q.

Hi,
I have five front teeth left on my bottom set with a gap in the middle were two teeth have been removed.
At the moment there is a bottom denture which makes up the rest of the missing teeth. this denture is lose due to gum shrinkage. The five remaining teeth are in poor condition and are very small. My teeth on the top set are complete but are all either crowns or bridges these are in good condition. the bottom five remaining teeth are small and don’t match the top set. what would be the best and most cost effective way to replace the bottom set so that it would match up with the upper teeth. Please give a rough estimate of costs involved or list possible treatments from high to low in cost
