Ive a severe acid erosion and bruxism what can i do and can i prevent further damages

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009
Q.
Hi I am quite upset about recent findings from 2 different dentists that I have severe acid erosion and bruxism. 2 years ago I had no problems at all, although my diet/drinking habits have not changed. There are no problems with my gums or x-rays and I have never had a filling so now I am gutted about this. What I’d like to know is that I have been told different things by different dentists about the effects of swimming on teeth. I swim 3 times a week for 1 1/2 hours a time. This has been a new thing over the last 2 years. Could this be the problem and how can I check the PH levels of my local pool? My current dentist is insisting that I grind my teeth but I do not believe this to be true but at one time I was on a high dose of Citalopram and have read that this can cause grinding and I think it did in my case. I was on this for about 3-4 years. I am also a vegetarian and have been told this is the problem!!!??? so confused. What can I do and can I prevent further damage. I cannot stop swimming as this is now for me a form of anti-depressant. I am miserable. Thanks for you help.

Hi there, how you doing? Um, I’ve got skew teeth, was wondering what could I get or do to have straight teeth? I know braces is an option but don’t really want to go that route because it’s a long process? Thanks

I would like to have a bonding to fix the gap inbetween my front teeth can i get it done in NHS?

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009
Q.
Hi, I am under 18 years of age, and I have a gap in between my teeth; this maybe due to the piece of skin attatched in between it, I believe its called a frenum or frenulum. I would like to have bonding to fix the gap, would this be free under the NHS? And if I was to have the piece of skin cut if I decide not to have bonding, will this get rid of my gap? Thankyou

I have a large gap inbetween my front teeth what would be my best option to fix it?

Friday, June 19th, 2009
Q.
Hi – I am 39 – and have a large (I consider it to be) gap (about 3mm) inbetween my front teeth. It was smaller, but I wore braces as a child and the gap seemed to get bigger – I do remember having something behind my two front teeth to pull them in, but that didn’t seem to work – I have a piece of skin inbetween them (don’t know the name for it) which I presume is causing the problem.. I am wondering what my best option would be, whether to get the skin removed and wear braces, or to have somesort of cosmetic dentistry to englare the front teeth to close the gap… kindest regards

Friday, June 19th, 2009
Q.
Hi there, I have always been very unhappy about my teeth and really wish I had got a brace when I was younger. My profile from the side id aful and I have been told I have a ‘narrow arch’ and that my over-bite is too big. Many dont see the issue with my teeth however it is something that I am really paranoid about. I know I could not afford cosmetic dentistry at this time and cannot seem to get accepted for any finance plans, Was just curious if you had any ideas? Thank you

I currently have orthodontic braces fitted after the treatment would the gums push them back

Friday, June 19th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I’m fifteen years old and I currently have orthadontic braces fitted, I’ve had them on for a couple of months because my inscisors next to my two main front teeth never grew, I just never got an adult pair of them. The plan is that the braces will bring my canines into the place where these missing teeth are meant to be, and then they will be shaped to look more like inscisors. However, a friend of mine got a similar treatment done, and he said the problem was that the gum that had gathered between the teeth as they were pushed together, eventually pushed them apart again, even with wearing a retainer. Is it a possibility that my gum will push them apart again, and if so, what can I do about it? Thanks for your help.

Im looking for implants can you advise and do your dental implant costs exceed the nhs cost

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009
Q.
Hi! I have a large space upper jaw where I lost a molar. I was made a denture by a NHS dentist several years ago but cannot get on with it at all so I am looking into a dental implant (Ithink). The gap affects my ability to chew, (as I have a gap below too) and also greatly affects my confidence as it is very obvious when I smile. Can you advise and do your costs exceed what I would be charged by a NHS dentist? Thank you

Hi, I am considering Implant dentistry and have been reading about the process. How do I decide on which Dentist I should use ? There are so many and the prices are so different. I don’t have money to throw away as I have just been made redundant but also don’t want the cheapest. Could you recommend anything for me ? Many Thanks
