Can I get veneers free on the NHS?

Q.
Can I get veneers fitted for free on the nhs? My local dentist have told me it will cost me 650.00 to have two veneers fitted on the front of my teeth as I have a big gap between my two front teeth and I don’t like the look of it. I had braces to close the gap between my two front teeth when I was much younger but as I’ve got older the gap has just got too big, please help me? Please also let me know if there is any such help/grant available to help with the cost of veneers, I am currently not working and on benefit?? Also receiving Child tax credit and hold an nhs exemption card.

The NHS does provide veneers on the NHS but it doesnt provide cosmetic treatment that is only intended to improve appearance. That often makes it difficult to justify NHS veneers but there is variation in intrepreting the rules. A simple solution is to reduce the gap by adding tooth coloured filling to the tooth surfaces (sometimes called cometic bonding) this might be easier to obtain on the NHS.

my daughter who is thirteen has braces for the pass two years now and was told today that her one tooth isnt closing enough she has to have a veneer on that one so they can continue with the braces again once that is done,Im a single Mom and have a nhs excemption card but I will have to pay fro them the nhs doesnt cover – i was reading up on the tooth colored filing will this work as good as a veneer once the braces go back on to close this the gap – I would be very grateful if this can work.Desperate Mom

Can I get veneers free on the NHS?

Q. Can I get veneers free on the NHS? One of my front teeth is discoloured and my dentist has said that it is partially dead – therefore I may need root canal treatment before I have veneers fitted. I am a full time student, so would the NHS pay for all/some of the treatment and how do I apply??

A. Veneers provided for this situation would be covered by the NHS but speak to your dentist first.  You may actually need a full crown rather than a veneer as one the tooth has been root canalled it is much weaker.
