Phillips and Dental Duo Advocate Prevention over Cure

Sample News Big

The key philosophy in dentistry of late has been prevention before cure; that is, maintaining good oral health so that restorative procedures at your dentist are not needed.

To this end, Phillips is holding a touring road show to spread awareness of prevention following an exception sell-out meeting series in Belfast and Glasgow earlier in 2011.

The road show will tour through the second week on November 2011 and will begin in the north, making its way down towards southern cities and will start with a visit Manchester of the 7th, followed by Birmingham on the 8th, Cambridge on the 9th, Oxford on the 10th and Brighton on the 11th.

The dental duo of Professor Edward Lynch, the Head of the Warwick University and periodontist Ian Peace, will be at the head of the tour which will stage multiple meetings with the overriding theme of “Prevention is better than cure – periodontitis vs peri-implantitis”.

While the benefits of prevention over cure are obvious to patients – for the main improved oral health and less of an impact on their wallets due to dental surgery cost – the tour will also be addressing the benefits of prevention to dentists and their practices.

The meetings will generally focus on how to improve dental quality in the practice, as well as introducing modern dental techniques and showing how preventative methods can still prove profitable to a practice if done correctly.
