Would implants be the best option in the long-term to replace my missing teeth?

Q.
hi,
I am 55 years old i have three missing teeth on the left bottom jaw my dentist has advised me implants but i am unsure as to go ahead with it as i am concerned about the pain and i am a smoker so will implants work on a long-term basis?
A.
When considering dental implants we would advise you to reduce your smoking or completely stop. Smokers do have an higher percentage of failure. Regarding pain there is nothing to be worried about you may experience some discomfort for a couple of days after the surgery but nothing more. As long as your implants are well maintained by your dentist and your oral hygiene is good there is no reason why they won’t last a lifetime.
