Will the root need to be removed regardless of the treatment I decide to have?

Q. I had an upper front tooth crown on a post which became loose so my dentist lengthened it. It became loose and on removing it the root fractured. He is now going to remove the root and put a denture in its place . This seemed a good option so my gum can heal to enable implant at later date, if I dont like the denture. [decided against the bridge as too evasive. My question is why does the root need removing. We dont remove them when we have a tooth extracted, and does the root need removing whichever treatment I decide.,
A. The root is always removed when a tooth is extracted. It is removed so it does not cause infection. The best option is often to have the root removed and the implant placed at the same time as this can preserve the most jaw bone.
