What would be done to compensate for the permanent loss of tooth enamel?

Q. I’ve been advised that to straighten my front tooth with invisalign, filing is necessary. About 1 or 2mm is proposed. What would be done to compensate for this permanent loss of tooth enamel? Thank you

A. This removal sounds a little large are you sure it was not 0.2mm around some teeth.  You can remove approx 4mm spread around 10 teeth quite safely, this small removal is better than having teeth removed.
