What should my crowns be made out of to match my veneers?

Q.
Hi Mark,

I want to ask you … what are the best front crowns for colour matching against a vaneer for your front teeth? and how long do they last in comparison to the porcelain on metal or all porcelain. I would love to have my teeth whitened but have been told by my dentist that it is not possible to do on crowns and vaneers?

Please could you advise

Many thanks

Hello Thank you for your questions.

The best crowns for your treatment request could one amongst a choice of many…it’s nearly impossible to advise you without seeing your individual circumstances. If it is for crowns to match to an exisiting veneer then the crowns should probably be made out of the same porcelain material and colour that the veneer was. It may be better to remake the veneer for something new and improved and you’d probably get the best result this way.

If you want to whiten your teeth first then you could always take off the old veneer and place a provisional one which is lighter in colour and then match the final veneer to your newly whitened teeth

You have lots of options. I’d love to be able to offer you some very accurate advice so if possible you shouold come and visit one of my practices for a consultation or please choose one of the other very good cosmetic dentists on the site here

hope that helps somewhat?

Best regards

Mark
