What do you think of laser whitening?

Q.
im 64 yrs old and a 4 yrsago had my teeth whitened with the bleaching method, they have reverted back to the colour they were which were never very white.im thing of laser whitening do you think this is a better option , many thanks
A.
Laser whitening does not last either and with all whitening I advise a once every 2 months night top up – basically the trays you are provided with use them to apply top up bleach once every 2 months

Julian Says :

I think it depends on the type of whitening system used. Prices nationwide seem to vary between £200-1200 depending on what type of treatments are carried out.

To whom it may concern, Just writing to enquire about Zoom whitening. I just wanted to know how long each session under the light is (15 or 20 minutes) and how many sessions are done? I have heard that some clinics offer as many as 4 15minutes bursts under the lamp. If I wanted more or longer sessions would I have to pay much more? Thank you.

Is there an initial treatment in the office that gets the procedure started? I thinkI saw this on the Enlighten website. I would also like some idea of the cost of the six month smile – I appreciate that you cannot be precise and thateveryone is probably not suitable. kind regards

I had my teeth whitened the other day and my dentist done an in house treatment using a well known company. Bearing in mind this Hydrogen Peroxide was high I also found out the PH was 4, I understand that a low PH is very acidic and I know that whitening is a gaseous process, I have heard that a low PH can damage the enamel now I have had this done for my future reminilisation, is this correct?

Any treatments that are carried out by a dentist should be extremely safe for your teeth. I cannot comment as I do not know what system you have used but do go back to your dentist for reassurance Regards

Hi. basically one of my front tooth has been discoloured and it is really embarassing. I’ve done alot of research of what it could be and how it can be treated and return my tooth to the normal colour…. so i checked in with the dentist as i was very concerned and she has given me a root canal treatment, and has told me that the colour wouldnt go and it will get worse over time. i started to worry so much because my teeth is already embarassing as it is 🙁 anyway i sometimes dont feel like smiling baring the colour of my tooth and i’m always conscious that people are staring at me because of it. it has given me a very low self esteem. i really want to build on my self esteem by getting my tooth back the way it was. and im only 18, i cant help but to be embarassed. my dentist told me that there is a possible solution..which is to bleach my teeth.. but it will only last two years or so.. and she also suggested a crown… but she didnt recommend it and it is too expensive.. anyway.. i really want to know if there is any treatment to return my tooth colour back to the way it was .. thanks.

your dentist has given you the right advice. You can either whiten your teeth with a crown or a whitening procedure

I am currently carrying out a home whitening treatment which I recieved from my dentist. I had propper fitted trays made which I intend to use after my treatment with top up gel to maintain the results. I was provided with Enlighten evolution3 home kit and am using a 16% carbamide peroxide gel by Enlighten. After my initial two weeks home treatment I have been adviced to buy additional syringes so that I can maintain the whitening. However, I can purchase a 16% carbamide gel by polanight for half the price. Will changing the brand name of gel be a problem?

Not in any significant way as you’ll only be using it for top ups

what is your opinion on home whitening kits over ones that you have in a dental practice. I would really like to have whiter teeth, but I am not sure whether i can afford the treatment from my dentist. Can you recommend any at home whitening treatments, which although i realised won’t be as good as dentist treatments, are the best in the home whitening range? Thank you very much for your time

Anissa Says :

Unfortunately, whitening is very unpredictable despite the claims. Crest white strips are as good as any of the over the counter products. Try these and see what success you have. You can always see a dentist in the future.

i have got a front dead tooth,, this happened when i was younger, i may have knocked my front tooth, and then not realised, that it had died.. i want to know, if it can be whitened? if it can not be whitened, is there a possibility for a veneer, to be put over the tooth, as this is construding with my confidence.. i would also like to know, if a veneer, is put on my front tolth, can a veneer, be whitened thank you, and i look forward to hearing from you soon

Dallas Says :

You should whiten the tooth first then place a veneer to match the dead tooth with the rest. The veenr will not whiten in the future.

i am going to get the laser on my teeth tomorrow and wondering if the pain is bearable while under going laser treatment, as i have sensitive teeth anyway and I tend to experience shooting pains in my teeth regularly on a daily basis. It is done by a company called crystal teeth whitening . People have said that zoom is much more painful than laser, so thought i would go for the faster option, which was laser thank you

Candace Says :

They can both be a bit sensitive but usually manageable by most patients.
