Was the abscess caused by filing the tooth?

Q. I saw my dentist 2 months ago for a check up and whilst i was there i mentioned i had a sensitive tooth. the dentist diagnosed a high point and filed it down. he said it would be a little sensitive for a while. he said my oral hygeine was excellent and teeth in good condition.but a week ago i developed very bad tooth ache in the same tooth and went back to the dentist who said id need a root canal filling. on my visit today my tooth was x rayed and i was told i have an abscess and the dentist also said that the root was not straight. he showed me the x ray and started the root canal treatment. my tooth is extremely painful now, i cannot put pressure on it. was the abscess caused by filing the tooth? it states on most of these websites that absesses are caused by bad oral hygeine but that was not something i have? will the treatment work being as the root is not straight?

A.

Without seeing the tooth & xrays I cant be specific. You can get fractures in teeth that initially causes sensitivity then the tooth dies followed by an abscess. Fractures are difficult to sort into harmless & harmful from their appearance (if you can spot them at all) They seldom show on xrays.
The issue of a curved canal make root treatment more complex but still usually succesful.
Most root filled teeth requires crowns and reducing the heght to take it out of your bite combined with analgesics(ask at any dispensing pharmacy for best tablets for you)
