Dear Dr Hughes,
I have recently moved and changed dentist. My previous (NHS) dentist gave white fillings if I needed them, so I assumed this was the norm. My new (NHS) dentist has given me a silver filling which I am unhappy with, especially as the main advantage of silver seems to be cost and the practice has expensive looking tvs in all waiting and treatment rooms. Am l being unreasonable?

Due to bulimia my front teeth have worn down, how can I improve them and how much would it cost?
Thursday, February 24th, 2011Hello, I am a 36 year old lady and over the last 15 years, due to 10 years of sufferering from bulimia, my two front teeth have worn down and are now slightly shorter than the rest of my top teeth. I was always told that I had an amazing smile and beautiful teeth. But not any more. I am looking into what options there are to adding a couple of mil in length to those top two teeth ( or veneers ?). I don’t even know if any thing is possible to fix this. Could you please be kind enough to get back to me and also advise me how much I would have to save up to get this corrected, many thanks.

Are white fillings suitable or recommended for large fillings?
Wednesday, November 24th, 2010 Hi,
I would like to have my amalgam fillings removed for the newer type ones. I have 3, 1 of them is small one is large in the center of the tooth and one is very large taking up most of the tooth. The two large ones are also maun chewing teeth. Are the newer white fillings strong enough for such a big hole or would I need to have teeth removed?
Also how can I be sure that the dentist I choose removes them in a safe manner?
