I Have Had A Gap In My Teeth Since I Was Fifteen Years Old. What Can I Do To Resolve It?

Friday, August 30th, 2013
Q.

Hi. When I was younger I was fitted with a brace to close the gap at the front of my teeth, but it also appeared when my baby teeth either side of my front ones, fell out. There was no bigger ones coming through so I was fitted with a bridge with a black filler behind them which is very unattractive.

Also, after the brace was taken off my gap reappeared and pushed the bridge slightly, so now they are uneven.

I really want to fix this problem as I am 23 now and my teeth have been like this since I have been 15 and I have always had the gap there.

What can I do to resolve this?

Thank you.

My Gums Have Receded Due To Medium Level Gum Disease – What Treatment Should I Undertake?

Thursday, August 29th, 2013
Q.

Hello, Doctor. I need to tell you that I currently have medium level gum disease at the moment and my gums have receded quite a bit and I also have many gaps in my teeth with my front two teeth protruding quite a bit – what would be the best way for me to achieve a straight smile? Would the treatment be braces, veneers or dental implants? Is a straight smile even possible with implants, or will the replacement teeth look the same as the ones I currently have? Are veneers a bad option for receding gums? And what would be the best way to fix protruding front teeth/gum area? Thank you.

Is It Best To Shorten Or Lengthen My Front Teeth To Have Them Level?

Wednesday, August 28th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, I have always had one tooth slightly longer than the other at the front and I am not very comfortable smiling because of it and I’m looking at ways of fixing it. What is the best way to fix this? Can I have this levelled out or a bit added to the shorter one? I am worried that if I have it shortened it might discolour and even eventually fall out, Could this happen? How much would a treatment like this cost or would you advise to leave it as it is? Thank you for your time.

How Would I Deal With My Pointed, Misaligned Teeth?

Thursday, July 25th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr. Please please help me. My teeth have been stealing my confidence since i was a kid. My 2 upper cuspid are so pointed. Like a fang. And the left cuspid was not in proper place. my 2 lower cuspid are pointed but not that much. My teeth are stained due to coffee and im so tired of using whitening products. I want to have braces so my left upper cuspid will be pushed back. But i realize it wont solve the problem with my pointed and stained teeth. It wont vanish. Still like a vampire. I read that veneers can fix this. My 4 upper teeth in front are also not in good shape. The two in front are big. The tooth beside my left cuspid on the right is so small. Im planning to have my teeth bleach before getting veneers for my upper teeth only as ive read here but my dentist suggested to have my teeth in veneers up and down front only because if the bleached teeth will get stained again it will leave the veneers teeth white only and the rest yellow. I dont want to get veneer teeth in yellow color. But its so expensive, up and down veneer front only. What should i do? With my pointed and misaligned cuspid and stained teeth. Im willing to pay but up and down veneers are so costly and im in a really tight budget. Im so desperate to fix this problem to finally gain confidence. Please please help me. Thank you so much!

Would Veneers Reduce The Appearance Of My Overbite?

Wednesday, June 26th, 2013
Q.

Hi there, I wondered if you could help me? I have a mild overjet ( I think about 3mm) and an overbite ( only a few mm of my lower teeth show when I bite down.) I think my overbite is partly down to my front teeth being relatively long.
I do believe that I have nice teeth otherwise. They are quite straight etc and I do take good care of them.

I would like to know if I could improve this with veneers/ crowns/ overlaying veneers over my teeth. I know it wouldn’t correct it completely. I would also like to widen my smile, which I know can be helped with veneers or is there anything else you can suggest that I can maybe have a little look into? Thank you for your advice in advance.

Should I Opt For Internal Bleaching Or Veneers?

Tuesday, June 11th, 2013
Q.

Hi,

I have two teeth that are discoloured caused by a trauma decades ago.

The colour became worse after an infection approx six years ago. Following this I had root canal treatment on the two teeth (over 5 years ago now). The root canal seemed to have worked as seen in later x-rays. However the teeth are now more noticeably discoloured. One more than the other.

Eight years ago I had whitening performed by a dentist that worked quite well but the above has reversed this.

On recent dentist visits, they have suggested that traditional whitening treatment may not work as effectively in the past. Their recommendation is veneers.

I am a little concerned at the invasiveness of veneers, risk of the final product looking artificial and weakening the teeth.

How do veneers compare with internal bleaching? (In terms of treatment and effectiveness.)

I am further worried I have no idea where to have this treatment performed in London. How much do either treatments cost? How much time do you need in between appointments?

Can I Get Veneers If I Have Periodontitis?

Friday, June 7th, 2013
Q.

I suffer from Periodontitis, and I was wondering if I would be able to opt for veneers. Can I ask you for some advice please on my best options? I have now got to the stage where I hold my hand over my mouth when I smile. It’s destroyed my confidence and also the dentist has obviously told me about the health risks etc which is only getting me more stressed out about it.

How Should I Rectify My Fluoride Staining?

Friday, June 7th, 2013
Q.

When I was young, I had nice white teeth but as I grew older and my adult teeth came through it began to turn brown! I’ve always taken care of my teeth and I don’t know why they turned brown, but I went to the doctor’s so I could find out what was going on and the doctor advised me that my mum had taken antibiotics whilst she was pregnant with me. I currently have 2 veneers and 4 crowns at the top but my bottom teeth still remains brown. I was just wondering if there was anything that I can do to solve my brown teeth problem!!! Please help as it’s getting a little bit too frustrating!! Kind Regards.

Would Veneers Mask My Rotated Teeth?

Friday, May 31st, 2013
Q.

Hi
I am just inquiring about veneers, I have a slight chip in my front tooth and the incisors next to them are rotated slightly, I would ideally like them porcelain veneers and would like as much information as possible and any recommendations you may have, I often find my tooth gets caught on my lip due to its rotation and would love it either straightened or veneers on the front four teeth. I am unsure if it is possible to get only the from four teeth as veneers ? If this is possible what would you recommend ? I am overall happy with the rest of my teeth they are relatively white and overall straight apart from the four front one wich have the small chip and are rotated, I am a little worried by veneers as they are not necessarily perminant and I’m unsure how long they last and how much they cost to replace and how often ? I love the Holywood type smiles but don’t think I could keep up with the constant upkeep ? I would ideally like to disguise the rotated teeth as they make me unhappy with my teeth so they would be my priority, is it possible to use veneers to disguise rotated teeth or is it best to just get these teeth straightened ? Overall I would love a straight white smile and by fixing these four teeth I think I would be much more happy with my smile. Thank you for your time. Kind regards
