Is there any alternatives for veneers for my darkened front tooth

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009
Q.
Hi i’ve got a darkened front tooth, that came out about 22 yrs ago, i pushed it back in myself, it has started darkening over a period of some yrs and is now looking bad especially in photographs where it shows up very bad i don’t like smilling for photos anymore. My last visit to my dentist told me that it was a lack of oxygen getting to the tooth that is the problem but he would not take it out or crown it as it was still healthy otherwise. i would love to get it capped or have a veneer over it but how can i go about getting it done, privately would seem the answer but the cost is off putting, are there any other alternatives to this ? how can i persuade my dentist to do the work for me ? any advice would be good

Why are my new porcelain veneers discomfortable?

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009
Q.
Hi doctor. I am having alot of discomfort with my new 10 upper porcelain veneers. From around day 4 of my temporaries being fitted the problems began. When i went back to the dentist, he told me that some food had maybe got into the bond as there were small holes. I thought my problems would be over when i had my porcelain veneers fitted. No such luck! A week later i was back and sent to a root specialist, he slightly adjusted my bite and a week later i am still hurting, on and off, and if i have not got pain i have got face ache that goes into my ears and temples, like muscle spasms which gives me vertigo. I can eat, Just! But am sensitive to hot beverages. My own dentist took a normal x-ray but could not see any root damage. I paid alot of money at a top London dentist and am so annoyed and confused at what has gone wrong. Any advice will be gratefully received. Thank you.

WHich one of lumineers, invisalign, and inman aligners are better for crooked teeth?

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009
Q.
I have crooked and mishapen teeth, especially my top six front teeth. I’m trying to decide between lumineers, invisalign, and inman aligners. I’m 18 years old and live in the USA. I’m also a student in college. Cost and time have a big difference in my decision. What information can you give me to help me make my final choice?

Advice on redoing composite resin veneer

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009
Q.
Recently, I went into the dentist to get my two front teeth rebonded- composite resin veneer. The first time when I got home I noticed that my front teeth were two shades darker than my real teeth, so I called back and asked them to redo them. The second time, my teeth came out too white(but I don’t mind that much). However, he also made my teeth extremely thick and they seem bulky in the middle. I also noticed when I got home that one of the sides of my two front teeth is yellow. Today, I called another dentist to see if he could slim them down a bit. He refused to try and fix them and literally laughed at my whole story, which I don’t think is funny. He did agree with the middle of my teeth being rather bulky. So after calling two more other dentists who refused to fix his work, I called his office back and I have an appointment for Friday to try and shave down my teeth a little. I’m torn between putting up with the dentist again, and not being happy with my two front teeth that I paid $600 for. Do other people go back three times to get there teeth fixed, and if this were your case how would you react?

Options for straight beautiful teeth for the older people

Sunday, September 20th, 2009
Q.
I am 61 years old and as seems to be with many older people I have considerable movement of my lower teeth resulting in them bunching in the front. My upper teeth now also appear to be moving and I would like to have them corrected. Is this possible? I should say I enjoy good health both orally and physically and participate in regular excercise and have never smoked. I visit the dentist for check ups regularly but have been told I am too old to bother with this. Your opinion would be appreciated.

I have 6 veneers and all of them are loose and beginning to rot?

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009
Q.
I had veneers fitted on 6 of my front teeth at the top and they are all beginning to come loose as apparently the teeth under them are beginning to rot (i only had them done 3 years ago). I have had to have one of these teeth removed completely (one right at the front) and am now having to wear a denture plate thing which keeps falling out when i speak and i cant eat with it in. I have not been able to leave the house or see anyone because i am so depressed and my gp has put me on anti depressants (not just because of the tooth – have lost loads of family recently amongst other issues and losing my tooth was the straw that knackered the camels back) . in circumstances like this where patients are upset about the way they look because of thier breast size the nhs sometimes do breast implants – is there any way of getting a tooth implant done on the nhs as i am a single parent and was made redundant a while ago and can’t go back to work as I have just been diagnosed with ME so i just cant afford much – is there anywhere that could help? besides – arent teeth cheaper than boobs?
