How good is to replace old fillings with white fillings

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have a filling on either side of my top set of teeth and I feel that they were not done very well. They really stand out against the rest. I would love them to be replaced to look white rather than the grey/black they are at the moment. I wondered what my best course of action might be and whether you could advise me further?

Advice over matching of new and old crowns

Sunday, September 20th, 2009
Q.
I recently broke a piece off a back tooth on which I had root canal treatment a few years ago. Both of my front teeth are crowned and I was also experiencing a little “vibration” in one of them. On visiting my dentist yesterday and after taking x-rays, she says the root canal treatment I had years ago was “incomplete” (it was done at the same practice but by my previous dentist who has now left) but there is no decay so recommends just a crown as there is not enough tooth left to fill. As for the front crown I have an infection for which she is recommending root canal treatment and a new crown. She has quoted me £450 per crown plus £360 for the root canal treatment Initally I thought this sounded very expensive but after a bit of research have accepted these are probably the right prices – however my main concern is that the new crown will match the one next to it? I should be grateful for your opinion on the treatment recommended and the price – and is there a chance they won`t match? Thanks you for your time.

After tooth filling my upper teeth are slightly tilted plz advice?

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009
Q.
Hello, I had my first crown installed over a tooth that had broken. I was not in pain, it was a tooth that had been filled years ago. The tooth is a bottom, left, two teeth back from the canine. In any event, I have developed a slight lisp since the installation and it appears that my upper teeth are tilted (with the right side being lower). I went back to the dentist, he said he sees nothing wrong but that he would redo the crown if I wanted. He also offered the explanation of perhaps that perhaps air is now channeling differently through my mouth due to the width of the crown being less??? Is thsi a common occurence?

I had a composite filling which broke off what can i do?

Monday, September 14th, 2009
Q.
Dr. Moore, A year ago, I had a composite filling put into my front tooth. A few days ago, the bottom part of the tooth broke off in two places and the composite filling from the front remaining part to the top has come out completely; leaving only a thin part of my real tooth behind. Is this tooth salvagable for a crown?

Im experiencing pain in my teeth can u plz help?

Thursday, September 10th, 2009
Q.
Hello, I have just been to my dentist as I was experiencing pain in my lower back teeth. I had an x-ray done and was told that my lower back teeth were fine but that I have alot of decay in my top canine tooth and that it will need fixing immediatly. She then poked and blew air into it asking me if it hurt which it didn’t and then said I would need the tooth sorting but said that it would be extremley difficult. I asked if she meant if I was going to lose the tooth or need a root canal and she said no nothing like that, she would just need to do a normal type filling but just that it was going to be very difficult. I am now scared and don’t understand. Please could you explain this to me a little more? What happens during a filling of you canine tooth and why would it be so difficult? Please please help!!!
