do you have any advice on what a patient with a phobia like me could do?

Thursday, April 30th, 2009
Q.
Hi, When i last went to the dentist (i was around 11 years old) they told me i needed teeth taking out, more fillings and probably braces to straighten out my teeth and i was too scared to go back. I did also get fillings done at the time and this took several numbing injections and i still felt a strong pain and i developed a serious phobia of the drill. Im 21 now and i would really like to get my teeth sorted. But i am really scared to go back and i dont have alot of money so i am putting it off. But now one of my back teeth (next to a wisdom tooth that is squashed up next to it) is decayed and the black in it is gradually taking over the whole tooth. I am unsure whether its too late to save the tooth or not but if i need any teeth taking out / any work with the drill i dont think i can go through it. Do you have any advice on what a patient with a phobia like me could do? I dont mind travelling to get too a good dentist, my main concerns are the costs and the pain/drill that i strongly fear. Many thanks for your advice in advance.

my tooth are decaying one by one how much it would roughly cost to fix these problems

Thursday, April 30th, 2009
Q.
Dear Mr Solanki, I would really appreciate it if you could awnser a couple of questions for me. When i was younger i had a very poor dentist who made poor work of my teeth. Since those days i haven’t revisited a dentist. Nowadays my teeth are terrible – i have a huge hole in my back tooth, another hole in a different back tooth which is revealing a filling out the side, and most of my teeth are very crooked.  I have always brushed atleast once a day but it just seems like my teeth are decaying one by one. I’m 20 now and this is the only thing ruining my self confidence to talk to people. I am writing this to ask how much it would roughly cost to fix these problems – i think basically i need almost everything redone. I work full time in a small job, and as we know life in London isn’t cheap but i will save up for the next five years if you think my teeth are rescuable. Obviously you cannot see my teeth so you couldn’t say exactly how much but an estimate would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou very much for your time,

i developed bad hiatitus hernia as a result my teeth are badly eroded can it be fixed in NHS

Monday, April 27th, 2009
Q.
Since i was little, I had a brilliant dentist, he moved surgery twice and i followed him, Unfortunatley he retired, and whilst finding a new dentist, i was never given enought pain relief and was in pain and became scared, from once loving the dentist and i stopped going for 2 years, 2 years ago i developed a really bad hiatitus hernia, which caused me to be sick regulary every day for years causing my to be badly eroded and my 2 front almost see through, I have just had an operation to fix the problem, and I’m better, Pluked up the courage to see a new dentist and he said i needed around £500 of work, couldn’t i get it done by the NHS as it was a medical problem that caused it ? I have also heard of people who go to the doctor tell them of thier fear of dentist and they get sent to the hospital, knocked out and all the treatment done for free?

It was mild at first, but now its excrutiating. The whole tooth is throbbing. Could there be more of a cavity underneath the filling? And how can it be fixed?

im told my old crown should be replaced with new crown due to decay how could this happen

Monday, April 20th, 2009
Q.
I had a procelain crown done, using the new all in one dental machine that takes a picture of your tooth before the prep, during the prep after the prep, then the dentist draws the crown and the machine makes the crown in about and hour in the office. Since then the tooth has now developed decay. So now I am told that I now have to have this old crown removed the decay removed, the tooth rebuilt up and a new crown put on this tooth. So how could this have happened? When I asked this question I sure did get a song and dance from my dentist, I said you know I have crowns in my mouth I have had for over 20 years with no decay. Did you not get all of the decay the first time ? Where you in a hurry? Did you not get a good seal when you seated the crown? I expect you to make this right. Well, you know those things happen was the answer I got, HMMM, that’s not acceptable from my dentist what do you think I should do? What would you Do? I don’t eat, junk food, I get regular check ups, I floss I even take naps in the dental chair when the dentist is working on my teeth.

My front teeth ( Smile ) are quite bad and one has eroded quite a lot and I dont know what I can do as I cannot afford to pay thousands of pounds to get this sorted

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Q.
I have bad teeth, especially in the top half of my mouth and I recently saw a Private dentist to see if they could help. They were extrememly rude and partonising and I ended up not going back. My front teeth ( Smile ) are quite bad and one has eroded quite a lot and I dont know what I can do as I cannot afford to pay thousands of pounds to get this sorted. Is there any alternative other than dentures? I am 22 years old and paying for not looking after them as a child. The decay in the top half of my mouth has gotten so bad that my partner doesnt even want to kiss me anymore. My bottom teeth are generally ok, but the top are in a really bad state and some probably are un-saveable. Any help would be great. Thank you for your time.

I have broken decay or missing teeth what is the best option

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009
Q.
My front 4 teeth are just fine on the top, however the rest on either side are either broken, decaying or missing. What would be my best bet with dentures? Partials, over dentures, or complete upper set?
