Q.
How do teeth decay? is it possible for a right handed person to suffer with tooth decay on their right side of the mouth as a result of it being easier to brush their left side of the mouth? and vice versa for left handed persons.

I have been experiencing a dreadful taste in my mouth what do you think the reason is?

Friday, July 10th, 2009
Q.
I have been experiencing a dreadful taste in my mouth and I feel it is coming from either my tooth that is cover by a veneer or my gum as they appear a little inflamed. I have been to the dentist and they state that the xray appears fine and they can not see anything wrong. I feel there is as the taste is unpleasant and don’t feel right. Have you ever experience this and what is it??

My bridge unit has a very slight wobble or rocking movement is this ok?

Friday, June 26th, 2009
Q.
I have a 4 unit bridge on the upper right of my mouth- this was fitted at the end of 2006 and I clean it well and floss underneath. I have been aware for quite some time of a very slight “wobble” or “rocking” movement when I apply pressure to one side or the other. Is this Ok? there is no pain and it it seems very securely fixed on to my teeth- is it just that there is a two tooth space between the actual teeth holding the bridge? I could not affor a new one and my dentist doesn’t seem overly concerned about it. Please advise

The 3 tooth from the back at the top left side hurts when i bite hard food can you please advice

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009
Q.
Hello, The 3rd tooth from the back at the top left side of my mouth hurts when i bite something hard. The pain lasts for between 5-10 minutes and then goes. I try to move the food i am eating right to the back of my mouth but sometimes i accidentally bite with the problem tooth which is ok for soft foods but extremely painful for hard foods. I have now started to develop pain in my temple area and am begining to wonder if this is a direct result of whats occuring in the area where the problem tooth is. thnka you

I have a deep decay in my tooth do i need a root canal

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009
Q.
Hi – I have been advised by my dentist that because of deep decay I need a root canal (last molder). But the tooth in question has no infection, no pain. My dentist now has cleaned the decay and closed the tooth with a provisional filling. In a few weeks I face a root canal treatment in excess of £1000 (incl. crown). My question is: do I really need a root canal? The tooth is calm, and if a precision crown is fitted, would it not seal the tooth effectively to avoid bacteria infecting the pulp? I just want to avoid killing a tooth just because of some decay … Some 20 years ago I had a similar case (I believe) and didn’t opt for the root canal; that tooth is still going strong. What are my options? Does it make sense to ask my dentist to only fit a crown without the underlying root canal treatment? Or am I asking for trouble?

I had pain in my tooth but now im worried that the tooth was left open by dentist

Thursday, June 18th, 2009
Q.
Good day Sirs, On Wednesday evening I felt a mild toothache. In the morning on the next day my right chick started swelling a bit. I made an appointment to see a dentist on Friday. The doctor treated the tooth canals, said that there’s nothing bad about the tooth, no pus or any purulent substance just a slight inflammation. She left the tooth open and prescribed me to wash it with salt, soda and iodine water thoroughly throughout the day. The next appointment is on Monday. The pain is gone, but the chick is not getting smaller nor swelling any longer. I’m worried that the tooth was left open, could you please tell me if it’s ok? Thanks.
