I’m desperate for my teeth to be placed in the normal position, what can I do to correct them?

Friday, July 16th, 2010
Q.
Hello, I need some information, when I was young I was told I needed to wear a head brace to pull my teeth back and then have a brace placed on to straighten my teeth, as I was young I did not want to wear a head brace for 12 hours a day and therefore just had a normal brace applied. Now I have over shot teeth at the top and I desperately want them to in there normal position as they stick out now. Is there any procedure I can under go to correct this? Kind regards
,

Will the fact I’ve had gum disease and some recession prevent me from straightening my teeth?

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010
Q.
Hello, I’m 27 years old and have very healthy and white teeth with no fillings. I had braces when I was younger (15) but as I stopped wearing my retainer my teeth have since moved a bit and are not as straight as I would like. I was thinking about going for the invisalign treatment to re-straighten the teeth which have moved. However there is a problem – when I went to the dentist recently he said over the last 3 years I have suffered from some gum disease which has led to a small amount of bone loss on my two very back teeth (diagnosed from routine x-rays in a check up). I have also noticed a small amount of recession on two of my front teeth. Anyway, I’ve rectified the problems with my gums now (through hygienist visits and an electric toothbrush) and they are healthy and pink now. Will the fact I’ve had gum disease and some recession prevent me from straightening my teeth?,

Could I have my teeth filed to make my teeth look straighter?

Monday, June 14th, 2010
Q.
i used to have a brace years ago, but my teeth have gone back to how they were previously. theyre not as bad as before my brace, but still cause me to feel self conscious about my smile. there is overcrowding over the teeth and slight overjet, with one tooth in particular jutting out at an angle. would it be possible to file the teeth to look straighter?,

Questions regarding braces and overlapping teeth..

Friday, June 4th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I had braces when i was in high school. they were on for 18 months i think. the top ones were removed first and slowly i started noticing an overlap on my front teeth. In 2008 i had the overlapped tooth filed a little so it wouldn’t look so out of place. have a few questions: (1) will the filing down of my tooth affect the end result should i wish to have my overlap straightened? (2) what would be the most cost effective yet permanent solution which is not obvious? (3) I have fixed retainers on the back of my bottom front teeth (from high school days), are they meant to be there for life?,
