My husbands is losing his teeth what can be done to save them?

Friday, September 11th, 2009
Q.
My husband’s teeth are falling out, he has gum disease and regularly visits the dentist who more or less says that nothing can be done. His previous dentist suggested a mouthwash, which has made no difference. He cleans his teeth three times a day, uses floss and also the little interdent brushes. The dentist has also said that he will not be able to wear dentures as his gums are disappearing also. The latest tooth to fall out is near the front and now one front tooth is loose too. Surely something can be done to save his remaining teeth, could he ask for a referral to a hospital specialist? What can be done if he is unable to wear dentures? We desperately need some advice.

Is bad odor from the mouth caused by infection or something else?

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009
Q.
I had a root canal about 4 years ago. Starting about 6 months ago I couldn’t eat on that side of my mouth due to pain when biting down. I also have a small knot next to the tooth. In the past two weeks there is a very noxious odor coming from the tooth. Is this caused by an infection or something else? I’m just a little unsure where to go from here.

Do we have any sensation on the dead teeth?

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009
Q.
I had 2 crowns at the back upper side replaced and one new one (so they are 3 in a row) and root canal prior to this.. I also had root canal on the other side of my back upper side and these teeth were then filled (2 of them). that was about a month ago and when I bite both sides of these teeth are in such pain that I avoid chewing at all! I Also the teeth that have had root canal are sensitive to cold…I thought if your teeth are dead you can’t feel anything??

Will the wobbling teeth in braces automatically stiffen itself?

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009
Q.
Hi Dr Caplan. I’ve just had my braces put in. Three days after having them put in when my teeth were stull tender, sore and not as stable, I fell and hit one of my front tooth on the ground, which resulted in some bleeding seeping out from that gum line. Now four months after, that tooth now clicks when I push it with my tongue, and feels ‘wobbly’ to a degree. It will become stiff again like before, or will I need a procedure to strengthen its stability? Thanks

I know i should be going to the dentist but im so scared and embarrassed that i’ve let it get so bad, i cant sleep cant eat and now i’ve started burning up really bad so im really scared, i cant even tell my partner cos im so ashamed of my teeth Please can you give me advice on what i can do before this gets any worse, Thank You

Would it be possible just to have the tooth filled instead of root canal treatment

Thursday, August 13th, 2009
Q.
My dentist(locum)has suggested root canal treatment and a crown. I have a temporary filling. As a pensioner I am worried about the cost, but would prefer not to lose the tooth. Would it be possible just to have the tooth filled?

Ive rotten teeth that need to removed and im feared of dentist can you give me some advice

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009
Q.
I have a few rotten teeth that need removing as very painfull i also have poor oral health due to a massive fear of dentists i have even thought about being knocked out having them all taken out then false teeth so i dont keep having all this pain and worry however this cost is not an option for me. I would really like some help to get my oral health back and teeth sorted and say goodbye to the pain last night i only had 2 hours sleep due to the pain. The other problem i have is i am ellergic to the injections and the last time i had a tooth removed it was at birmingham dental hospital under sedation this put with my very bad fear of dentists is why my oral health is so bad and i am ashamed of it to be honest but worried about doing anything about it. I have also had a very unsympathetic dentist years ago which made me worse and not had a dentist since. Please can you give me some advice and point me in the direction of help as i worried in pain and anxious. regards
