Where do I go to find the best dentist where I can also spread the cost?

I’ve had a lot of problems with my teeth but dentist is useless. I want to go private but it’s going to be a big job to get sorted. Where do I go to find the best dentist where I can also spread the cost?

I have just been through the process of volunteering

Q.

I have just been through the process of volunteering at leeds dental institute and was promised after all my appointments i was gauranteed to have my teeth straightened for free.

I never got chance to get a brace when i was younger and i am now 20.

Today at my orthodontics appointment i have been told my teeth are not bad enough for treatment at the institute, so i have returned to look for private care.

My teeth are moderately-severe crowded top and bottom, and i have a overjet of about 6mm. my top centre line is correct but my bottom is 1mm to the left.

What would you suggest would be the best brace for me?
I would preferably prefer something relatively cheap and maybe something less discreet that traditional braces if possible

Having previously had braces, will I be able to have them fitted again by a NHS dentist?

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I had 4 teeth taken out and a fixed metal braces when I was younger, but my dentist took these off before the gaps had fully closed. I was just happy to have them off at the time. But now at 23 I am conscious of these gaps as you can see them when I smile, and my front teeth have moved forward rather than sitting straight. So, my question is, is private the only way I can get the ‘perfect smile’ or can I get braces again with an NHS dentist (obviously I would have to pay), and if so what braces do the NHS offer and what are the average prices? I think I would probably prefer the wire behind the teeth! But would like to know my options. Many Thanks For your time!,

My daughter has been recommended implants to replace her baby teeth and then braces. Are there any alternatives?

Q.
My 16yr daughter has been fitted a brace as she has missing adult teeth either side of her top middle teeth. we have been told that the best option is to have implants in the gaps and then bring in the rest of the teeth so that any gaps are at the back, but we are unsure whether this is the best option and we would like to know what are the other options if any. My daughter would prefer to have bridges as this would be less painful and give a quicker result but the orthodontist seems to not want to fit them. as we are paying privately for her treatment i think my daughters views should be taken into account. Are we entitled to have a second opinion and be referred to have the rest of the work completed under the nhs? can you advise.,

Do you think I’m suitable for dental implants?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
Hi I am 30 years old and had a plate put in about 5 years ago to cover 4 missing teeth in my front lower jaw. This was due to very poor oral hygiene on my part when I was growing up. There was a concern at the time that one of the teeth the plate anchors onto was also weak. Unfortunately, that tooth is now due to be removed. I do smoke about 2 cigarettes a day (trying to quit), I brush regularly and only drink water and try my best to avoid sugar as a result of all this but I feel as though I’m fighting a losing battle and I don’t want to lose anymore teeth. The plate can hurt when eating food and it is difficult to take in and out every day. I spoke with a consultant at the NHS yesterday and he was totally dismissive of the idea of implants. I know I would have to go private, that’s not a problem, but he told me not to bother wasting my money. I am concerned, however, that the plate is putting pressure on my other teeth and is causing me too much discomfort. I’m desperate to get this sorted out and I wanted to get a second opinion. I realise you’re a leading expert in this field and I was wondering if you could offer me any advice as to the best course of action? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Yours,
,

Do you provide both private and NHS treatments?

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010
Q.
I am moving to Manchester soon and I was wondering if you provide both NHS and private treatment and whether you accept new patients. On the private front, I would like teeth contouring on about 4 top front teeth. What would be the cost of this? I am due back in Manchester in 2 weeksw time. Many thanks, Shilpa,
