Tuesday, August 25th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr How valid the calim of this tech” CEREC 3D CAD scanner” versus lab work interm of accuracy. I know the time is 1/600HR waiting ,but is it true NO micro annulas due to accurate dimintion of the tooth. 2-Is the ceramic filling more advance relaible, durable than the composit filling if the ceramic price is 10 times more.Do you advise patients to use it? Thanks

Best option for tooth grinding problem

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009
Q.
Hi I have a tooth grinding problem which has cracked a bottom tooth. My dentist has repaired this twice with a small filling but it keeps coming off. I went to my practice last week (met a new dentist) who suggested having a veneer which was ‘really tough’ and would not come off. I was quoted £700. However, my previous dentist said a veneer would not hold and he wouldn’t sell me one, he suggested a night guard £400, but I am not convinced I ‘grind’ at night I think it is when I chew food. My dentist raised the height of a rear filling to stop me grinding and now I am having trouble chewing food. I therefore have three expensive options (veneer, night guard or constant fillings) and have no idea what to opt for. Can anyone help? Regards

I had white filling in 5 teeth and now 4 are in pain. does it mean my dentist cant do white fillings

Saturday, July 11th, 2009
Q.
I had white fillings in 5 teeth recently (the first ones I have ever had done ie first time I went to a dentist). They were all molars, and were done in 3 seperate sessions. One was broken off, so the filling is close to a nerve and a liner was put in. All the teeth hurt after the fillings, and now, 3 months after the first 2 fillings, and a few weeks after the the last 4 out of the 5 teeth are hurting after cold or hot food/drinks, and also sometimes without any obvious reason. I only had some pain in ONE out of the 5 teeth before, now pain in 4! When I told my dentist he said the fillings will need to be replaced, and if that does not solve it they need a root canal! It just seems mad to possibly end up with a root canal on 3 teeth that never caused me a problem before I went to a dentist. Actually this has put me off ever going again. Does it mean my dentist can’t do white fillings very well, and if so would it be any use to have them redone by the same person? Would I have to pay again? And how long should I wait to see if the pain still settles by itself? Would it be any use to not eat any hot or cold things, ie could that help the teeth to settle, or will it make no difference..? Thanks

My molar teeth filled with amalgum is slightly loose do i need a crown or do it need a root canal

Sunday, June 21st, 2009
Q.
I have a molar which had been filled with amalgum about 8 years ago in a cross shape. Recently two p[ieces of the tooth around the edge have broken off leaving the filling and the front part of the tooth. The filling is slightly loose. There is no pain in the tooth atall. Do you think this would need crowning or can it just be built up and smoothed off with white stuff. And if a crown in required would it need a post, as its a molar. Also what is the criteria for doing a root canal, was wondering if this would be necessary aswell. Thanks

should i be worried about the small area of filling which has been replaced by another dentist

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009
Q.
Hello: I have a filling in one on my back teeth, a month ago a small part of that filling fell out as i didn’t feel pain i didn’t book an appointment with the dentists. for tree days I was in pain so I decided to see a dentists. She told me that there’s not decay or another cavity in that area, so she just replaced the small area which fell out. I’m quite concerned as I’m not sure if It had been better to have the whole filling removed, and because of that I could have something bad in my tooth. The thing is but the moment I’m living in another country I’m i’ll see my dentist in four weeks. Should I be worried? My teeth are in really good condition as I see my dentist at least twice a year. Thanks

The composite filling have started to chip at the sides is it like to solve this problem

Monday, May 4th, 2009
Q.
Hello. I have recently had somem composite fillings to fill the gap between my incisor and canine. The fillings have started to chip at the sides and near my gum. Can anything else be done for these fillings to be a sucess as I am really happy with the way they look, but not it they are going to keep chipping! I think that my bottom canine may be hitting the fillings when I eat – can this be shaved down? And is this likely to solve the problem? Thank you for your time,
