Q. I had white fillings in 5 teeth recently (the first ones I have ever had done ie first time I went to a dentist). They were all molars, and were done in 3 seperate sessions. One was broken off, so the filling is close to a nerve and a liner was put in. All the teeth hurt after the fillings, and now, 3 months after the first 2 fillings, and a few weeks after the the last 4 out of the 5 teeth are hurting after cold or hot food/drinks, and also sometimes without any obvious reason. I only had some pain in ONE out of the 5 teeth before, now pain in 4! When I told my dentist he said the fillings will need to be replaced, and if that does not solve it they need a root canal! It just seems mad to possibly end up with a root canal on 3 teeth that never caused me a problem before I went to a dentist. Actually this has put me off ever going again. Does it mean my dentist can’t do white fillings very well, and if so would it be any use to have them redone by the same person? Would I have to pay again? And how long should I wait to see if the pain still settles by itself? Would it be any use to not eat any hot or cold things, ie could that help the teeth to settle, or will it make no difference..?
