Hi im 19 years old and have previously had orthodontic treatment

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008
Q.
Hi, im 19 years old, and have previously had orthodontic treatment. However, I have a couple of problems. Firstly, my front two teeth are very big compared to my other teeth and my mouth. Is there any way to fix this? Also, my smile arch is too narrow, so when I smile, you can hardly see the molars. Being only 19, I’m not able to pay the astronomical prices that I’ve seen from many cosmetic practices. Would you be able to advise me? Thank you

I had a brace when I was younger which straightened my teeth out

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008
Q.
I had a brace when I was younger which pretty much straightened my teeth out, my top teeth anyway. But the front four teeth at the top are quite oversized compared to the rest which leaves me with a goofy grin when I smile. I don’t mind it but I would like to have them filed/contoured to make a straight smile as apart from this they are in good shape and I hate feeling embarrassed when I smile. I haven’t heard much about this method so I wanted to ask if it is possible and also what kind of price this attracts as it seems like quite a simple technique but I don’t want to be surprised later on! Many thanks for your advice.

am i suitable for 6 month smiles braces

Monday, November 3rd, 2008
Q.
Dear Dr Bohara I came to the website initially as I am interested in the ‘6 month smiles braces’ but due to the complex nature of my problem am not sure they are suitable. I was interested to see that you also had experience working with Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. I am 24 and have an underbite for which an osteotomy has been advised. I also require orthodontic treatment first as my upper jaw is has lost the centre line and my teeth have shifted to one side. This is due to the local hospital orthodontist removing one of my upper canines when I was a child in order to apparently reduce the crowding, but which has now apparently caused further complications. My problem is that I am acutely conscious of my appearance, although I have been repeatedly told by the NHS orthodontist that I am being ridiculous. However hard I have tried to rationalise it I cannot change my feelings. I have always been called names such as ‘Chinny’ and have very little self confidence. I dread the thought of wearing the ‘train track’ braces he has told me I must have as I know that I will have unpleasant comments made from collagues and I cannot simply shrug it off. It may sound stupid but the thought of having to wear such braces for an extended period is something I really don’t feel I can do. However, the situation with my jaw and teeth is worsening all the time and affects my eating as I have an open bite and also, I feel, it affects my speech. I wondered whether lingual braces or the 6 months smile braces would be suitable to have in conjunction with the surgery I probably need. Could you please advise me? Many thanks

I had a plate when i was a teenager

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008
Q.
I had a plate when i was a teenager, and it wasn’t as effective as braces would have been. I am now considering lingual braces or invisalign to “complete the job”. Is one of these treatments more effective than the other?

cost of teeth whitening and straightening consultation

Sunday, October 26th, 2008
Q.
Please could you advise on the cost of a consultation. I am keen to find out more, and indicative prices, about teeth whitening and also teeth straightening, probably using braces rather than veneers to avoid having to have them replaced relatively frequently. Many thanks
