Is sub-standard material used for making dental bridges?

Monday, November 30th, 2009
Q.
Hello, I had a bridge fitted in April.Yesterday I bit a piece of sellotape off the roll and as a result a piece chipped off the bottom of my tooth. My dentist said I need a new bridge, I was told that bridges are only guaranteed for 3 months, I thought that fillings, crowns etc were guaranteed for 12 months. I had a bridge previously for 12 years with no problems (also using my teeth on Sellotape). This makes me wonder if the materials used are sub-standard as I have done nothing extreme to warrant the damage.

Monday, November 30th, 2009
Q.
Hi,Doc,I had was involved in a traffic accident 20 years ago and lost 5 teeth. At the time i went to the dental hospital in edinburgh and had scans to see if it was possible to get implants.I was told because I had lost some bone in my jaw du e to accident, that there wasn,t enough to affix implants to,,since then i believe it is now possible to graft bone and therefore have procedure done..My question is: Since this was done through having an accident, Is possible to have procedure done on NHS, At the present time I am on incapacity benifits and DLA.Also I am a former seafarer and wonder if the dreadnought society could accomodate this.

My temporary filling has chipped should I be concerned?

Monday, November 30th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I had been given a temporary filling about 6 months ago and I am due to have the permanent filling done in a couple of weeks. However, the other night the same tooth (near back of mouth) partially chipped/cracked on the inside edge of the tooth, exposing some of the temporary filling. There is no pain but my question is, should this be of some concern to me given I am about to have a filling, and is the enamel able to be bonded back to the tooth or if not, what procedure, if any, is likely to take place? Many Thanks

Can cosmetic dentistry help my teeth look natural?

Friday, November 27th, 2009
Q.
An accident in my childhood knocked out my front tooth and chipped the took next to it, I am now 17 and the nhs has still not fixed my teeth yet which is distressing as I am meeting new people at college and i find it embarrassing, although i am now in the process of wearing a brace which I started wearing may this year, the plan is that they eventually place a bridge between my existing front tooth and my chipped one but this is only short term as I’m not 18 yet and cannot get a tooth drilled in. however I was wondering what my long terms options are for when i am older apart from getting a tooth drilled in, as I am worried that neither a bridge or a false tooth is going to look quite the same as real teeth, is there any other options that may look more attractive, and if so how much are they likely to cost? And what is the best option? Thank you
