I have chipped yellow teeth with thin enamel can I get veneers on nhs?

Monday, March 30th, 2009
Q.
My teeth are jagged (from child hood grinding in my sleep)and also slightly yellowing. Futhermore, the front quarter of my tooth is now chipped. The enamel on my left front tooth is so thin on the bottom (see through) that it looks likley to do the same at some point. I have Cystic Fibrosis which means that I have had to eat a high calorie diet to sustain my weight from birth and I also take regular antibotics orally and via a nebuliser and inhalers which have not helped either. I also have severe vitimain D deficiancy which I am on medication for. My dentist is unsympathetic. Her latest attempt at covering my chip looks terrible and discoloured. In three years I have had the tooth filler/cover re-done four times already as it keeps coming off. It means that I not avoid certain foods such as apples for instance. Its starting to affect my confidence. Do you think I would be a suitable candiate for veeners and would I be able to get them on the nhs? I cant really afford them but at 26 I just want a solution that will protect my own teeth (especially the enamel) and that is strong and long lasting so that I can smile with confidence. Thank-you.

I need a filling for my bottom teeth which is chipped

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
I am 14 years of age. And my teeth are really good the way that they are set out but the straightness really upsets me and knocks my confidence big time. My top teeth are good its more my bottom one’s as between the two main ones there is a slight chip which i would like filling in so it goes away. And one of my teeth next to one of the main ones has a bit out of it and i would like that sorting out same goes for the tooth on the other side. Would this cost anything. Please get back to me. Thank you very much.

Will NHS fund the metal crowns for my front and back teeth?

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I wonder if you can help answer my question. I have Sjogren’s syndrome (now being successfully treated) which has caused extensive enamel erosion and badly damaged many of my teeth. My dentist has recommended crowning approximately 7 teeth, including both incisors and molars.I am exempt from nhs charges due to disability, however he tells me that I will have to pay approx £300 per tooth crowned unless I am willing to have metal(gold) crowns.I want to clarify the nhs position on repairing severely damaged teeth re porcelain/white crowns – your own site and other DOH information seems to suggest that these are available in this kind of situation? Also to clarify, if not, is it possible for me as a patient to “top up” the cost of providing the metal crowns(i believe £198) which the nhs would cover, to allow me to have the porcelain/white ones? many thanks

The veneer on my two front teeth came off

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009
Q.
Hello. I need some advice regarding a chipped front tooth on the right side. I chipped it some time ago and i went to see my dentist and he said he could fit a veneer for me. He fitted one on the chipped tooth and one on another front tooth because another overlaps it and he said he wanted to make them look at lot straighter. The veneers came off about a week later because he said the two front teeth are not the same size as each other and overlap. One of them keeps pushing the veneer off the fron tooth and he said it is major works and i should ask him about that later because he is not sure what to do. I am really depressed about it and i hate my image because of it. Could you give me some advice about what could be done. I am also a single mum who relys on NHS dental care so what else will they offer apart fronm veneers. Thanks

my tooth has eroded away leaving a hole

Friday, March 6th, 2009
Q.
I had a root filling done and a crown fitted at the bottom 3rd from the back. Ilost my crown and was told i didnt hav sufficient tooth left to fit another crown. i was told to leave it as its no cause for concern. But by now it has erroded away so much that its become a big hole where food gets trapped and is very difficult to remove. it has started to become a little sensitive aswell. The nhs pay for my treatment so is there anything they can offer me on the nhs and is there any alternatives can i still have a crown fitted or will the roots have to be removed if i have further probs with it. it cant be left like this anymore thanx regards

Hi I have a huge concern with my teeth

Monday, December 1st, 2008
Q.
Hi, I have a huge concern with my teeth. I have recently been confirmed as having enamel hypoplasia. Can you tell me anything about the etioliogy and pathology of this condition??? The destruction to my teeth is universal and quite serious. I am only 27 years old and this is a major problem for my self-esteem. I have seen a dentist specialising in oral diseases and aeasthetic surgical procedures and he sees my only option as having crowns put on all my 28 teeth (Yes! the damage is chronic!) I am just seeking a second (objective!) opinion based on this diagnosis and advice for treatment. Oh, and would the NHS provide this treatment? (Im assuming not). And another compounding issue is that I am a (struggling) student, financially independent from my parents. Speaking hypothetically, how much would this operation cost in the UK (with 3 root canal treatments also)?? Are the new ‘Procera-zirconium’ crowns the best on the market, and which crowns have the greatest resilience and longevity?? Thankyou.
