Hi I am a nineteen year old going to turn 20 in 05 /2011. I am a distance learning part time degree student from home first year. I don’t get any benefits or anything. Its a commercial degree so i wasn’t entitled to a loan or grant. Its with the University of East London through a company. I wanted to know if I could get the invisible braces free on the NHS according to my situation.,

Having previously had braces, will I be able to have them fitted again by a NHS dentist?

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I had 4 teeth taken out and a fixed metal braces when I was younger, but my dentist took these off before the gaps had fully closed. I was just happy to have them off at the time. But now at 23 I am conscious of these gaps as you can see them when I smile, and my front teeth have moved forward rather than sitting straight. So, my question is, is private the only way I can get the ‘perfect smile’ or can I get braces again with an NHS dentist (obviously I would have to pay), and if so what braces do the NHS offer and what are the average prices? I think I would probably prefer the wire behind the teeth! But would like to know my options. Many Thanks For your time!,

I have been waiting for braces for over three years. I am now 19. Will I have to pay for them on the NHS?

Q.
Hi, I am just wondering about braces on the NHS. I have been on a waiting list for over 3 and a half years, and they have now contacted me, saying that I can go for an appointment with them within the next 3 months. My issue is, that I am now 19 and a half. Will I have to pay for my braces, even though I have been on the waiting list since I was 16, before turning 18? Thanks,

Do NHS offer any ‘invisible’ brace treatments? I want a discreet brace but cannot afford private treatment?

Thursday, August 19th, 2010
Q.
Dear Dr Solankie, I am considering having my teeth straightened, however am unsure as to waht is the best method to use. I would like to know the costs of certain treatments and if they can be offered on the NHS? I am 25 years old and so don´t want something that is really obvious, however can´t afford anything like Invisiline which I have heard is very expensive. I like the idea of the brace which fits behind the teeth so you can´t see it. Are their any other options i could look into? I don´t know if it makes any difference to cost but it is only one side of my mouth where my teeth are crooked – the other side is completely straight! It is quite bad though and knocks my confidence alot. Any advice on costs etc you can would be very much appreciated. Thank you.,

I can’t afford braces, is there anything else we could do to fix my son’s high tooth?

Friday, June 25th, 2010
Q.
Hello Doctor. My son, 14, has one high canine tooth on his left side. Due to my poor money budget, we can’t really afford braces, is there anything else we could do? The rest of his teeth are straight besides that high canine. He has space for the canine to go down, it just won’t go down.,
