What affordable procedures would you advise to replace missing teeth?

Friday, December 3rd, 2010
Q.

more than 3 years ago,my 2 front teeth were prepped for one cap and one lumineer.the prep for the cap was too short and i was sent to an endodonist for post. soon, the post and cap came out.then my lumineer cracked.I’ve had a composite for some time on this tooth.presently i am wearing a flipper in cap space.this week, the tooth beside this cap space just broke off.,so i have 2 teeth missing and composite on other.this must sound like a made up story, but it is true. i don’t know what to do next.i really don’t wan dentures and can’t afford what the cost for implants would be. can you advise me? thanks so much.

Q.

Hi im 23 years old and have 2 overlapping teeth at the top front of my teeth. I am rather insecure about this and would like to have lumineers to cover them. NHS Dentists have said not too as theyre bad for you however i dont have 6,000 for incognito braces. i wanted something faster and less money with more of a impact.

Is it normal to develop a speech impediment after having veneers fitted?

Thursday, November 25th, 2010
Q.

I’ve had my two front teeth plated with dental veneers. My dentist recommended this as they were chipped and the fillings kept breaking off from a few hours to a few weeks after filling. The treatment was very painful as when he ground them down, it must have went close to the nerve. My face swelled up around my sinuses and I had a headache for days afterwords. Then when the veneers were put on a week ago, they were made very close together and the length of them were much shorter than my original teeth. They said they done this so I wouldn’t break them off. Now they lay in line with the teeth either side, instead of being slightly longer.
I now have a speech impediment as I cannot pronounce F or V properly, whereas I have always had correct pronunciation. I’m embarrassed to speak. I wish I never had this treatment done if I knew it was going to impair my speech.
My query is – is this normal for everyone to not being able to speak properly after having veneers fitted? What can I do to have this fixed? I looked at a website afterwords that stated Lumineers could have helped without unnecessarily destroying my teeth, but my dentist stated these were not as good as veneers and didn’t last as long? Is this true? and if so, how come dental websites can state they last 4 times as long if this is in fact the opposite?
I’m very unhappy with not being advised on what would happen when having veneers fitted, as I would not have agreed to them being fitted. I didn’t ask for them, I was told this was the only option besides bridges or crowns.
Please advise consciously.

Would Veneers or Lumineers be able to hide flurosis stains on front teeth?

Wednesday, November 10th, 2010
Q.
Hi Dr. Verma I have moderate to severe florosis on my 6 front teeth. I was just wondering whether lumineers would be able to cover the florosis stains because the flourosis is very white and my teeth are fairly dark. Or whether traditional veneers would be better. Thank You in advance,

I have been recommended Lumineers for my small teeth but can they make the Lumineers bigger than my teeth?

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010
Q.
my teeth are small and I have small gaps, my local dentist said lumineers would be great but my question is can they make them bigger than my teeth because the issue is the size. My teeth are in good condition other than that. They said 8 on top and I just wondered why not the bottom..cost approx. $8,500,

Are Lumineers appropriate for my dark teeth, or can I go with my preferred choice of internal bleaching?

Friday, October 29th, 2010
Q.
Dr. Bohara: I had an injury to top front tooth. I had a root canal & internal bleaching. The bleaching lasted a couple of years. The tooth has turned dark again. I have a new dentist this time who is recommending a lumineer. I asked her what she thought about another internal bleaching, but she said they frequently don’t last. She also said the lumnineer would be warranteed for 5 years. My insurance company has agreed to pay for the lumineer, but won’t pay for the bleaching. Yet, I’m concerned about having my tooth surface sanded down when it looks perfectly fine as is. What would you recommend?,
