I am having four old crowns replaced at the front

Thursday, November 13th, 2008
Q.
I am having 4 old crowns replaced at the front ,the 4 upper incisors either side of two front teeth, (they where 23years old) .For the first time I was having pain in my lower and upper jaw . I believed it was because the temporaries where too tight ,so returned to dentist yesterday and he removed them and replaced with individual temporaries. At 4 o`oclock this morning I awoke with this throbbing pain returning to my lower jaw . I`m losing confidence in my dentist. To put on the new temporaries he took 1.5 hours. By which time the novocaine was wearing of and I was v.sensitive to the placing and removal of the crowns . He seemed to fit each one around 4 times ,off and on. This is not normal as I have had crowns fitted for the last 34 years,I have never suffered with temporaries before. What is going on?

I have been advised I am not suitable for Invisalign

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008
Q.
I have been advised I am not suitable for Invisalign or the 6 month smile treatment to treat an overbite. I do not consider metal braces for 2.5 years as an option. Are there any other treatments such as Invisalign that can be looked into? Also would it be an idea to have another consultation with another Invisalign or Clearstep partition?

I have gaps in my teeth and anticipate having veneers

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008
Q.
I have gaps in my teeth, and anticipate having veneers to help rebuild my smile so that it is more uniform. However i grind my teeth, and was wondering whether i would still be able to have veneers, if not what suitable alternative could i have to accomodate my ‘griniding’ but solve the gap situation? Would it be possible for me to maintain my veneers with a night guard? Regards

i have pain in my right ear and also occasionally in my large molar

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008
Q.
Im a 55 year old male suffering from pain in my right ear and also occasionally in my large molar bottom right teeth and sometimes my lower front teeth. Ive had it for over 2 months. My dentist says it is being caused by an impacted wisdom tooth and it should be removed. The consultant at the hospital where he referred me says it is extreemly unlikely to be a wisdom tooth causing the problem and believes it is a problem with the jaw joint. She recommends my dentist making a splint to wear at night to stop teeth grinding. The pain is gradually becoming more intermittent and tends to come back every 3 or 4 days. Who is right>?Is it the jaw joint or the wisdom tooth?
