Want FGC on#19&20.Insurance covers 50%.Dentist/office will only order a 20% gold crown-they claim this i standard- anything higher would be too soft.Would this be in the base metal category?I want noble/high noble.I’m covered,why won’t they let me have it?This dentist is in my insurance”network”.Also,does silver in a gold crown have mercury?Many thanks.

Hello, i am enquiring about silver crowns at the moment i have 2 white gold teeth on the front i have had them for about 7 years but have just realised in my reliogion its not permissible for men to have white gold in any shape or form is it possible for me to get these taken out and get 2 silver crowns on only reason asking my freind told me you cant have siver crowns appreciate your reply. I have a query concerning filling. I have 10 silver filling put in over the last 10 years (I’m 27) but I am concerned about the safety of them – due to the mercury – and I’m thinking about getting them replaced with white filling which I believe do not contain any mercury. Is this a sensible thing to do, or in your opinion unnecessary? Does removing old filling and replacing them with white ones present any problems in itself which I should be aware of? Many Thanks

Is gold bridge the best option at my age of 71?

I experience a pain in my mouth where I have had a porcelan bridge for over 10 years. The dentist says I have a crack in the crown and that causes the pain when I bite down. He wants to replace the bridge with a gold bridge. After the insurance pays half of the cost I am still going to pay around $1500 for the gold bridge. I assume he intends to replace the existing crowns with gold crowns. I’m 71 I probably won’t be around for 10 years. I have a heart failure condition (stage I) and prostate cancer which is gowing very slowly. He says he strongly recommends gold because it will last a long time. The bridge I have now has lasted me over 20 years! I don’t get it. Why shouldn’t I get the same type of bridge I have now? How much cheaper would porcelan be. The gold is costing $3,000 (before 50% insurance is deducted) With the price of gold these days, it’s no wonder. If I were a dentist in this situation , I’d recommend the same bridge I have now, wouldn’t you? Please give me your comments

I have had a gold crown for 30years and recently the back edge has moved away from the gum. A year ago my dentist eased it down and filled it. Last week he again filled it with amalgam,this was uncomfortable interfered with my bite and broke and fell out after 4 days. He is worried that the tooth will break if he takes off the gold crown as he doesn’t know what is underneath. What are my options. Should I ask for an x ray?
