I don’t have any enamel on my teeth, what can I do to look after them to prevent losing them?

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011
Q.

Hi there. I was born without any enamel on my teeth and have had years of pain and constant visits to the dentist to have work done. My dentist has never really advised me on what I can do to help keep the decay at bay, although I do follow the hygienist’s advice on brushing and flossing. Can you offer an opinion? The state of my teeth is really affecting my confidence and I am developing a fear of the dentist. My Father lost all his teeth at 17 due to this and I am terrified of the same happening to me (I am now 29). Many thanks!

My 5 year old son is loosing his enamel. Is there anything we can do?

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010
Q.

Hi there. My 5 year old son is missing enamel off his 2 front baby teeth. His peers are starting to comment and I do not want him to be teased. Our nhs dentist says nothing can be done and they won’t remove which I understand but is there anything that can be done privately? Can they be painted with anything or treated in any other way to improve the colour. I do not want his confidence shaken at such a young age. I have looked at the pearl drops paint on veneer product but it shouldn’t be used under 7 and I couldn’t see a difference on my teeth so don’t think it will make a difference on his. I thank you in advance for any advice.

Hi,
I have the condition ‘dentin genesi imperfecta’and am considering dental implants for at least my top set of teeth. Are you able to advise me on how many implants this would require and approx what cost I would be looking at. Many thanks.

Are there more permanent solutions than veneers?

Thursday, November 18th, 2010
Q.
Hello. I have suffered with eating disorders and it has eroded the enamel on my teeth. I once had a wonderful big, full smile and now my front teeth are paper thin and have shortened. I hate smiling now and i would love to get my smile back. I have veneers on the back of my 4 top front teeth but they dont look good and i dont feel secure with them – i would like a more permenant solution and teeth more like my own were before. Any suggestions or advice?,

Ever since my dentyist cleaned my teeth they have become rough and the enamel seems to be dissapearing, causing them to become stained, can the enamel be replaced? I’m a bit scared to go back to my dentist for anymore treatment as my teeth used to be quite nice.,

Have I been given the correct advice in regards to wanting dental veneers?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
Hi, I have been to see 2 seperate dentists about getting veneers fitted. They have both said it is not possible as I have a lot of enamel loss and in taking away a layer of the tooth it may hit a nerve. I am still really keen to get veneers; can you please advise if what I have been told is correct? And if so if there is anyway around it? I look forward to hearing from you. Kind Regards,

I’m 19 and my appearance is vital to me. Is there anything I can do sort out the extensive problems with my teeth?

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010
Q.
Hi sir, i am 19 years old and as a young woman my appearance is vital to me. When i was 6 years old i fell down a flight of stairs and had to undergo surgery to place my dental structure back into place however through the years i have experienced several problems because of this. They have become displaced and are not straight . the enamel has worn off the bottom front row and have discouloured generously my gums are very weak the slightest touch and they bleed wich then makes it hard and uncomfortable brushing my teeth so i have dificulty batteling plack. My mouth is in constant pain and it is getting to the point where i cannot cope any more . is there any help i can get out there to make me smile again?,

Can anything be done about my tooth enamel that has worn away?

Thursday, July 8th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I have never had any problems with my teeth until now, my teeth are starting to wear down and become sensitive, I’m guessing due to the enamal wearing away. Is there any dental treatment to repair, improve, or prevent any more damage or possibly cover-up the damage that I have done?,

Would mid-range dentures last okay?

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010
Q.
I am sponsoring a 21 year old girl from Tanzania for 4 months. She is in pain and a dentist said she has little or no enamel on all teeth ie. she needs crowns on all, has multiple cavities and cracks or will need dentures. Since once she returns, there will be no dental care, my concern is that teeth can decay under crowns and eventually be worthless. Would dentures be best? Since we are fundraising and I will be doing most of the bill unexpectedly, is there a huge difference in price? I don’t want low end dentures as this is her only shot, but I can’t afford artistically done high end ones either. So would mid range dentures last? Many thanks and blessings.,
A.
I’m sure they will last ok
