What cheap treatment could I get for crooked, chipped and discoloured teeth?

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010
Q.
I don’t know what to do and it’s making me depressed. I’m 25 and have crooked, chipped, and discoloured teeth. My bottom set are fine apart from the front 4 teeth which are clearly overcrowded and crooked, they all four are also chipped because of an accident, but the dentist said there was nothing he could do about that. My top set is fine apart from one of the front two teeth over-lapping the other slightly, which I’m also concious about and also one of them is chipped too. I’ve given up smoking because of the effect it had on colour, I brush twice daily. Also I have a tooth at the top in the middle that has decayed and crumbled away and which I KNOW I should have out because it’s been like that for years. It’s just getting me down and every solution I see seems to costs thousands. I wish I could have an accident so all my teeth fall out and i’d have to have it all reconstructed and nice. That sounds a bit dramatic but its the way I feel. I never smile. Have you any advice on cheap treatments? or anything.. anything at all? Many thanks,

I have always taken good care of my teeth, (brushing

Q.
I have always taken good care of my teeth, (brushing 2-3x daily, flossing 1-2x daily, and using mouthwash 2-3x daily). I noticed last week there are a few of my teeth that are chipping off, and a few of my back teeth, in front of my wisdom teeth are discolored. I would like to get lumineers or veneers, I am a teeth grinder. Would you recommend either? If so, may I use a mouth guard to correct this problem while I have lumineers or veneers? Thank you. Have a great day.,

The fillings on my front teeth are starting to discolour. Would I be a suitable candidate for Lumineers?

Friday, October 1st, 2010
Q.
I am 22 and have 6 fillings on my front teeth where my teeth wore down from eating too much fruit etc. They are starting to discolour and wear away and I am starting to get very self conscious about them. Would I be suitable for lumineers? Ive heard these are better for the teeth than veneers but is it possible to have them with fillings? Is there anything else you would suggest? Many Thanks,

I had my teeth whitened and they were great at first, but have since regressed. What can I do to make whitening last longer?

Monday, September 20th, 2010
Q.
Hello, I have a question about teeth whitening. 3 months ago I went to a dentist and had them perform the “Zoom” teeth whitening treatment. My teeth prior to the zoom were yellow (pretty bad). Yet after the two hour treatment I had movie star whiteness to my teeth!. There was a difference of about 11 shades at least. They were as white as can be for a few days, however, I then started to have some serious regression. Now mind you that I used to be a tea drinker and smoker, but never over the past 2 years have I had a cigarette, or any alcohol, nor tea, nor coffee, or anything that would case my teeth to stain. Therefore, the regression my teeth were going through had nothing to do with those substances that darken your teeth. So since the three months since I had the Zoom treatment done my teeth are brighter (about 5 shades) than the yellow teeth I had before, but there is still a yellow tint to them, and they are nowhere near the level I had when I had that bright hollywood style for the first few days after I left the dentist following my Zoom treatment. So my question is…is there anyway I can not only achieve but also maintain that bright smile for long durations, like months a year at a time. I did also buy a take home bleach kit from the same dentist to try and help maintain my pearly white teeth, but the kit only gets my teeth a few shades whiter, which only lasts for 12 hours before the whiteness is gone and it goes into regression. Please help, all the treatments I’ve tried have only got my teeth white temporarly. And thank you for taking the time to read this doctor.,

Q.
Hello Dr Moore, My son is 6 and has started to loose his milk teeth. He has 2 new teeth at the bottom, all fine, but his top front tooth is wobbly and looks a little black at the top of it. We have an appointment with the dentist, but we are a little concerned that it may need to be removed. Hope you can help.,

How much would lumineers cost me in the UK?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
Hi, I’m 17 and very self conscious about how un-white my teeth are. I don’t smoke, drink tea or coffee- they just grew out like that, and I don’t know but maybe it’s due to calcium deficiency. One of them grew out with a dent and the rest, although now straightened by braces, are still discoloured, I want to get lumineers, but it doesn’t say anywhere I have found how much they would cost in the UK. Could you advise me? Thank you so much!,

I cannot get braces on the NHS anymore, but I’ve been looking at six month smiles. Is this my best option?

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010
Q.
Hi there, i am a 17 year old looking into getting my teeth straightened something that should have been done when i was about 14 but i was never taken back to a dentist then. I recently went back and registered at a dentist where i was told my teeth were very healthy but I cannot get braces on the NHS anymore. Could the reason be because it’s purely cosmetic? I am looking into six month smiles and i have recently been told i have TMJ i am wondering if undergoing this treat ment will agrivate it? Thirdly (sorry) i have naturally discoloured teeth would a whitening help this or would something like veneers be my only option? Thanks :),

Is it possible to get all my teeth whitened, even though one of my teeth is turning black?

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010
Q.
Hi, My teeth need whitened, all are slighly discoloured however when I was younger I cracked the front left tooth and required a veneer, this tooth is beginning to darken dramaically and I think it will turn black soon. Is it possible to get all my teeth whitened and what would you suggest? (Bleaching, laser treatment or any other affordable procedures) Thank you.,
