Can my dentures be made whiter to match remaining teeth?

Tuesday, April 5th, 2011
Q.

HI, I used to have partial denture to my upper jaw but uncomfortable. One of the teeth it replaced was at the front and rest at sides. After a few accidents it broke (easily cos of the 1 tooth at front problem). I only have 8 teeth left (upper) which includes 2 wisdom. These teeth need work on ie; small fillings. I’m contemplating having them all removed for a full top set denture mainly cos i’m 57 and would be better off doing so. Do you think I should do so?? If I decide to go ahead I would like the new teeth to be whiter shade but would then need the bottom teeth to be whitened to match or at least nearly, would this be possible as I want brighter whiter teeth. Thanx

After the failure of my bridge what are my options to replace it?

Thursday, March 31st, 2011
Q.

I lost my two front teeth in a mining accident when I was about 20 years old. About 15 years ago I had a bridge made and was reasonably happy with the result. last week the bridge broke and the two teeth supporting it are no longer able to support a replacement which leaves me with large gap which I have a temporary denture. My dentist suggested implants as a solution can you please suggest my options and approximate costs. I am now 64 but go scuba diving and play flugal horn as a hobby which present difficulties with dentures.. Your help would be much appreciated

My new dentures don’t fit after their first week, is there anything I can do about this?

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011
Q.

In June of this year I got upper dentures. I was given a temporary plate to wear for 90 days. I was told the permanent plate would look like my natural teeth, they took 3 impressions of my natural teeth. I went last week to get the permanent plate and it is lose. I can push it out with my tongue. But worse than that I cannot close my mouth. My mouth is open and the dentist told me it was the result of the larger teeth in the permanent plate and didn’t think there was anything they could do about it. What should I do? I really need some help here. Thank you.

I can’t afford the price of two implants, do yo think the prices will ever decrease?

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011
Q.

I have seen a consultant re two front teeth – I now need to have them extracted and have a bone graft, after that I have a choice of denture or implant as the bridge is not recommended. I am 59 yrs of age and recently been made redundant. The cost for bone graft and two implants with subsequent follow up is over £8,000 and I cannot get this on the NHS. My question is this, we can obtain hip replacements etc on the NHS but something like implants we can’t. I cannot afford this amount of money and am now conscious of so many people who have gaps in their teeth because of the high cost of implants – is this really fair when we are told to look after our teeth but we cannot afford to. I may have to result to a denture which I am anxious about as it is at the front of my mouth and I have memories of my parents taking their teeth out at night. I do not want my partner to witness this. Will it ever be cost effective so that more people can take advantage of it?

Can I have new dentures or do I have to stick with my old ones until they wear out?

Monday, March 28th, 2011
Q.

Hi, on 04-11-2011, I am scheduled to have a sinus lift bone graft on upper for lack of bone desity from past dentures. They are then after/during healing of bone graft (using human cadaver bone) to start 4 on 1 implants upper & lower. Here is my question. The integrity of my ‘Full Mouth’ dentures I have now are in need of replacement. The dentist wants to use the old dentures & keep them ‘going’ until all the bone graft & bottom-top (?) implants are placed. My concern is not only financial, but visual appearance. I do not know what the new dentures would look like. To me it makes more sence to get the bone graph, then to have new needed full dentures made (even if temporary until permanent ones are made). Then to have the implants placed. If this is done I will know how to go about planning for the expiture of having all this done without having any insurance to rely on. I am spending all my savings on this & making financial choices to make this happen. I will be 54 in Sept 2011, physically healthy & weight propotioned, if that even matters & right now on a fixed income. Hightlight my question. I have had these unfittly dentures for over 9 years. They are attractive, but have already broke in half on the bottom & I had to have a front tooth reglued on top because it fell out (eating a soft meal). Performed by a dentist. The denist has been putting tempory lining in to keep them fitted for now, they are very loose./ Another worry is more bone loss while waiting. I need someone impartial to help me understand why the dentist & perio dentist are not on the same page with this. The perio doctor said he would want new dentures if it were him. I asked him what he would want if it were him. Also if something goes wrong I will atleast have a set of complete good dentures until a solution can be resolved. My apologies for the length of this question, but I am sure I am not the only one in desperate need for a somewhat optional answer. You would indeed be of service to many for any answer to my ignorance in this & lack of knowledge with an answer/ question in this circumstance… Desperate in Midwest USA. and thank you for any help for me, in making the best decision I can.
