My son has a brown smudge on his tooth would a dental veneer be the best treatment for him?

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010
Q.
My son had an accident when he was 16 months old. He forced his new tooth up into the gum which had to be removed surgically. He is now 12 and his adult tooth has emerged with a brown smudge along the lengthe of the tooth. He would like a veneer – would this be the best option? However, as he is still growing would this cause a problem? Also, he is a very keen rugby player would it be worth doing whilst he is playing so much rugby. Or, could the stain be “bleached”? He is very self conscious of his tooth, especially as he is getting interested in girls.,

How can I get rid of the gap in my teeth?

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010
Q.
Hello Im 33 years old, I have a large gap between my top front teeth, (half a centimetre) which Ive had since I was a child, most of the women in my family have it. I hate it & in recent years it has really affected my confidence & made me feel very self conscious, to the point of sometimes I dont go out when it really gets me down. I lost a tooth a couple of years ago and since then the gap has gotten bigger also. What methods are there to get rid of this? I should mention Im pretrified of the dentist. Ive read about bonding, what is it exactly? Could I have the gap filled with gold filling? Or I was thinking even something like putting a jewel in the gap but I cant find a dentist who can do that. My aunt had veneers but the gap was so big her front teeth look too big now. Regards,

What sort of dentist should I see regarding my grinding problems?

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I have an overbite which I had a brace to treat when I was a teenager – It did work to a certain extent and I forgot about it til recently. I have terrible teeth and have several root canals, crowns, veneers and loads of fillings. A couple of different dentists have remarked to me that I must be a chronic tooth grinder, but I dont believe I do it during the day, and I can’t verify what happens at night because I live alone! Chips and chunks fall off my teeth all the time and crowns rarely last more than 6 months. It occurred to me recently that my bite only meets together on the left and that the “grinding” must be a symptom of the teeth constantly trying to find a comfortable position to rest in. Do you think this is a feasible reason for the poor condition of my teeth over the last few years ( I am 36). What sort of dentist should I see? Do you think I might need orthognathic surgery? Can you have orthodontics when several of my teeth are veneers/crowns? Please let me know, these teeth are getting me down!,

My top lip covers up my top teeth when I smile, what can I do about this?

Monday, July 19th, 2010
Q.
I recently got my braces off and i haven’t been unsatisfied with my teeth, but i have been extremely unsatisfied with my smile. i really don’t like my smile (and am VERY self concious about smiling and laughing – anything showing my smile) because my top lip covers so much of my top teeth, making my smile look weird. it almost looks like a tiny white strip when i smile and i think it really makes me look ugly and takes a lot away from my looks. i was curious if veneers would help fix the problem with my smile. do you think that if i got veneers to lengthen my teeth my lip and little toothed smile problem will be fixed and that when i smile you will see a lot of teeth? thanks for your help, Bella,
