Can you help, my teeth are falling out. Can anyone help me?

Thursday, May 12th, 2011
Q.

Doctor,
I came here as a last resort for some advice. Im a 23 yr old mother of two and I hide in my house everyday. I’ve always brushed my teeth 2 to 3 times a day but bad teeth runs in my family though the women. My grandma lost her teeth in her 30’s and my mother’s teeth are rotting, black and just not appealing. My teeth are following down that path. They are so terrible that i dont even leave my house. Every month another piece of tooth just falls out of my mouth leaving broken teeth everywhere. Alot of my problems are in the front and you can see why that causes me not just a great deal of embarrasment but also pain! pain everyday. I saved up for weeks to make a denist appt. to see what i would have to do. Let’s just say that was a nightmare, there is no way i can affort to get my teeth fixed, or even get vaneers like i would like. i fear that i will loose all of my teeth in the coming years and i will be in dentures before i hit 30. All of the horrors i read about aging quickly after you get dentures terrify me. There has to be something i can do, some way i cant afford to get something done. My question to you is, what do i do if i cant afford it?.. is my best option waiting until all of my teeth fall out to get dentures?
Do you know someone who helps out people like me? Please help my dream of being able to smile again.. take my daughters out without having to hide my face.
Please help me,

too scared to go to the dentist!

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011
Q.

hello there Dr andrew Moore i would like your professional opinion please , I have very bad tooth decay, every tooth on my upper gum has it literally only one has not got it and its starting to show early stages of tooth decay, but my bottom teeth are fine at the moment. i really need to see a dentist  urgently as I haven’t seen one for over 3 years now due to being scared , I have bad dental phobia , once I’ve been to the dentist what would they do to fix my teeth? and how much would this cost?
Would they give me implants, or false teeth, or just leave me without any teeth, and is it possible to take gas and air to put you to sleep whilst they do it all?

Thanks C

I can’t cope with my new dentures but I still need bottom teeth sorted. Can NHS not help me?

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. After eight months i am still unable to get used to my upper dentures. I also still need my bottom ones done. I am feeling pressure from my dentist to have the bottom set done even though i am finding i can not cope with my top set. I have lost two stone in weight and now have a new found fear of food. The best he has offered me is denture implants for my top set at a price of £3.500 but i really can not afford this, however i feel i really can not go on with these dentures, and the thought of having to have my bottom set removed petrifies me as i suffer from what you call dental phobia .. to what is an extreme level. My life is ‘hell’ so is there really no chance of help on the NHS?

Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, Where can i purchase clip on teeth or a clip on smile as seen on an american advert that you can do at home without going to a dentist. You attach them to your own teeth, if you have missing teeth, you put them in hot water to soften then add some kind of jel attatch to teeth.I need them desperatly as i have lost two bottom teeth and am terrified of going to the dentist. Can you tell me where i might purchase these and possibly how much they would cost thank you for your help.

Can you recommend what to do about my impending treatment for an abscess and dental phobia?

Monday, April 11th, 2011
Q.

I am dental phobic and I’m suffering from an abscess. In the past I have had sedation but I still couldn’t have the treatment as I was terrified. I am in so much pain and discomfort I really don’t know what to do. My mum would pay for me to have treatment but I need to be asleep. Any suggestions? I live in Taunton, Somerset.

My teeth are in bad condition, I am considering cosmetic dentistry but don’t know where to start, any advice?

Friday, March 25th, 2011
Q.

I am considering cosmetic dental treatment and need to understand precisely what it is I am looking for. My teeth have never been particularly strong despite regular brushing and flossing and I am now almost in despair. I have 1 crown that had just snapped, one back tooth that needs to be removed, a further root canal that has yet to be crowned and a number of large fillings that I am certain will not last too much longer. I really want to know if implants are the way forward or what else I can do to salvage my remaining teeth!!! Dare I say I have a mortal fear of the dentist and almost feel embarassed to visit given my current situation, please help!!!!

I am terrified of the dentist, could I be sedated?

Friday, March 18th, 2011
Q.

I am an 83 year old man who is absolutely terrified of dentists, and always has been, I have a couple of slightly loose lower teeth, and should have seen to, but am afraid to. What would be the best treatment, and would it be possible under sedation?

My daughter is worried about the dentist, could she be sedated?

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011
Q.

my daughter had a recent check up and was told that she had a root coming through her gum from a old tooth, it was very visable the dentist asked if we would like it removed or wanted to have a go ourselves, shes 9 years old and i thought he was joking, i asked for it to be removed and waited three weeks for a appointment, my daughter has adhd and can get easly upset and frightened and as soon as she saw the needle she started crying, she was told okay your done with your crocodile tears you can go, i asked whats next they said nothing. I have looked at this root and she has broken some off, it is now going brown and she has already had an infection. I need to know where to go to have it out and can she be put to sleep.thanks
