I had replaced crown on my front tooth 4 times should i see a specialist in toronto canada?

Saturday, June 20th, 2009
Q.
Hi Dr. Moore, I have had to replace a crown on my front tooth 4 times in the last 1.5 years because the crown will not adhere to what’s left of my tooth. Secondly, each time the crown falls out, my tooth and the post is completely black – almost charcoal black in colour. My dentist does not know what is going on, says he has tried different cements and has used a steel post, and therefore believes that there must be a crack in my tooth causing saliva to get in and erode the post. He believes the next step for me is an implant to ensure he can attach a crown more permanently? Can you please advise if you have heard anything like this or if you would like me to send a picture for you to see? My dentist, and the other dentists in his office have never seen a tooth (that has had a root canal done years ago) turn black and yet still be solid. PLEASE help….should I be seeing a specialist? Any references you can provide in Toronto Canada? Thanks in advance and I hope to hear from you.

I had a post of centre tooth snap Is it possible to have the centre root section and a crown fitted

Saturday, June 20th, 2009
Q.
I have had my front 3 teeth capped for several years but have recently had the post of the centre tooth snap. I have been told of the options but wonder why I have to have the root removed, use a temporary denture for three months, and then have a bridge fitted. Is is not possible to leave the centre root section in and make the centre of the crown fit into it as it would if there was a post.

I am currently receiving orthodontic treatment and i am not happy with the result any alternative

Saturday, June 20th, 2009
Q.
I am currently receiving orthodontic treatment at the Birmingham Dental Hospital which is coming to an end. After a few years in braces and now a dental implant, I am about to be fitted with a crown. However, the crown that my consultant has shown me and dry fitted is very small. It is my right lateral incisor and if this was fitted it would be very obvious that this is a false tooth. The tooth within my retainer at present looks very realistic and is difficult to distinguish from my real teeth. My consultant did ask me what I thought about the appearance and I mentioned that it was too short at the top as it does not even meet my gum and I was not happy with this. I was told the other option would be to cut my gum at the top and place it within but that would mean to start the process all over again. My consultant doesn’t appaer to want to do this though for some unknown reason. I must mention at this point that my lateral incisor was originally removed by a dentist when I was a child and this space had to be created again (I am now 39). I have seen many results of dental implants and pictures from this website. I believe the end result of MY treatment is unacceptable. Can you advise on the method of treatment and types of finished results that are achievable? I am due to have the final crown cemented in on the 21st July 2009 but am trying to get an earlier appointment. If I am not happy with it what alternative is there? I apologise for the history of my treatment with a short question.

I am having dental implants fitted in my lower jaw and i am worried what is your opinion

Saturday, June 20th, 2009
Q.
I am having 2 implants fitted in my lower jaw-5&7 I think- in August. I had the old teeth/stumps extracted in April that supported a bridge which was continously coming off and my new dentist has recommended implants as my best option.I am very happy with my new dentist but find I am getting increasingly anxious about the actual implant procedure as he has booked me in for 3 hours to do this.I have asked if I can have sedation but he doesnt have these facilities at his clinic, so have opted for taking temazepam prior to the procedure. The last time I took this at the extraction process(one tablet half an hour before the procedure) the dentist was delayed several hours but I did feel less anxious but the treatment only took half an hour. I am worried that I can tolerate being conscious for three hours sitting in the dentist chair and in particular when he drills into the bones what sensation will I feel? Obviously he will give me several local injections to numb the pain but I wondered if I could take 2 temazepam or would this completely knock me out? I have also considered hypnotherapy beforehand would this be of help or a waist of money? I would welcome your opinion. With thanks. PS I am 55 and in general good health.

Saturday, June 20th, 2009
Q.
I have only 3 upper teeth and 9 lower teeth due to severe gum disease which wasnt picked up by my dentist and was only discovered when I changed dentists.I know I will lose more on the bottom.I have a denture fitted but at every opportunity I have to take it out.My mouth is constantly dry, eating is a nightmare as it hurts to chew or bite so I am consequently swalling my food almost whole. This has in turn upset my digestive system and I just feel so miserable all the time. Is it possible to get implants on the nhs? How do you qualify .Im a single person and although I work I have a low wage.Im a 53 year old female. Please help

My front teeth are loose and my dentist broke it so being a smoke can i have dental implants

Saturday, June 20th, 2009
Q.
Hi I have just returned from my dentist having had a very unpleasant time. I am quite anxious but now I am petrified, I have had a post and cron for my fromt tooth for many years. I have also had other front teeth crowned for cosmentic purposes many years ago. Over the past few days my front tooth appeard to be loose. The dentist has broken it right off today which I am not at all pleased about. He says I now need a bridge and have to have the root of the front tooth cut out. I asked him about an inplant he said a flat no because I smoke – ( not musc though) I am not prepared to wear a denture so can you please advise. Today my dentist was taking an impression and as I have a high palate he over filled it with the gunge which of course oozed out making me feel like I was choking – I panicked and tried to let him know what was happening – this stuff slipping down my throat but I could not speak – I then had no choice but to try and remove this from my airway he pushed me into the cahir and I then flipped and managed to get this out of my mouth. He was not happy and I was shaking it scared me and being pushed into the chair scared me more I guess. I am now left with a temporary crown on a post which is wobbling around I darent eat . Now I am even more petrified. Please advise. I dont see why I cannot have another post and crown. He said the root had split but I dont know how he can say that without an xray. I am almost beside myself now. Thank you for your time

I have slight problem with overbite and invisalign had no impact is implant a feasible option

Saturday, June 20th, 2009
Q.
I’ve had several treatments since the age of 11. Although my teeth are not bad I still have a slight overbite and the roots of my maxilla teeth are very apparent. I still have issues with my bite coming together too. The latest treatment I tried was invisalign and has had no impact. Is there any other option apart from further orthodentics? Is tooth removal and implants a feasible option?
