One of my teeth need to be pulled and ive a very high smile line could i go for implants or bridges

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009
Q.
I broke off my two front teeth when I was 12. They were crowned and I had both teeth for over 30 years. 9 years ago one tooth had to be pulled and an implant was placed. That was ok I had some bone loss so it took over a year to place the implant. Now the other tooth needs to be pulled and I’m faced with another implant or a cantilever bridge. I understand that the implant is more permanent but the cosmtic results won’t be very good. I have a very high smile line. I know and have been told my case is difficult. The specialist, of course, recommends the implant but my regular dentist believes the bridge could work very well for me. Have you had experience with this situation. If so, what would you recommend. Thank you for your time.

I am very uncomfortable to wear my false teeth is there any alternative other than implants

Monday, July 6th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I had some work done by my dentist to corect the alingment of my teeth, which included the removal of the two teeth next to my big teeth. I was under the impression that he was going to replace these teeth via a bridge implant, but he decided that my bottom and top teeth were too close together and gave me a set of false teeth instead, that are very uncomfortable to wear, and i can’t speak properly in. I was looking at implants but was put off by the high cost. Is their any alternative to getting these teeth replaced? Thanks

what can i do about the missing front tooth and can i have implant or bridges advice?

Monday, July 6th, 2009
Q.
I have crowns on 3 of my front top teeth and a tooth bridged off to my left where I was missing a front tooth, family genes, anyways it looks very unnatural, plus metal is showing at the tops of my 3 crowns. they are approx. 33 years old. I am 59. I also have other problems. Top and bottom. Missing teeth. I have only 9 teeth at top, no back teeth and bottom I have 10 with 1 molar on each side bottom. I was told I can’t have implants at the top because of my sinuses. One cosmetic dentist suggested crowing all my top teeth, removing old crowns which have the metal showing and replacing them and crowning all my top teeth with a permanent bridge off on each side at the top. I got another opinion and was told this would not hold up without an implant on the other side of each bridge, that this would cause the crowned tooth that the bridge was off to eventually crack and break. My question is what do you suggest. (I want a healthy and pretty set of teeth) and what can I do about the missing front tooth. my family calls them “little doggie teeth” Also what is the difference in noble metal on procelain and noble high metal on orcelain? Like I said I have other problems but for now if you can address this if you understand my explanation. Thank you

My dentist says my front tooth is infected but it doesnt cause any problem can i fix it later

Saturday, July 4th, 2009
Q.
I had root canal on my 2nd premolar on the right hand side of my mouth (5th tooth over)10 years ago. I havent had any touble with it since but about 18months ago I went to a new dentist who discovered it was infected and had to be dug out and repacked with anesthetic. I have now managed to break the front of the tooth off. I went to my dentist and she said it was infected again so there was little point in getting a crown and she has recommended i visit a dental surgeon to have it extracted (the root is pointed apparently). My options then are to have a bridge crown (£600) or screw in tooth (£1500). It is not causing me any problems and i cant really afford to replace it at the minute. I have also heard that if its removed and I choose not to replace it there is a chance my other teeth will move into the space etc. Its far enough back in my mouth and cant be seen so Im just wondering is there any reason why i cant leave it as it is for a while until I can afford to have it replaced? or should i go ahead and have it removed now and replaced or can i safely leave the gap?

My 20 yr old crown needed to be removed for root canal should i now go for implant or bridge

Saturday, July 4th, 2009
Q.
I have had tenderness and at time pain from a molar crown. The crown was on for about 20 years and was checked regularly during check-ups. Recently the pain was so bad I went in and the dentist said I needed a root canal, but he wanted to remove the crown because there was a dark shadow under it. It was there in last years x-rays, but he thought it had changed and since I was in pain wanted to take off the crown first. I had leak under the crown that was undetected, when the crown came off, my build up came out also, so he had a clear site of the decay and cleaned it out, touched on my roots to decrease pain and filled it teporarily with fillament. He advised me to get an implant. He did say my bone is fine and the toothed looked good, but the backside were the decay was is thin. I don’t want a bridge or an implant, I want the tooth saved. I know it may not last as long, but my insurance will cover more of a root canal than an implant and I’m scared. Should I do this?, get a second opinion?, find someone who would be willing to rebuild it?Help?

Ive five tooth bridge fitted but one of my crowns wasnt fitted snuggly into the gum can u advice?

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr i recently had a five tooth bridge fitted, two of the teeth are false, three are abutments. I was pleased with the overall appearance of the bridge, however a couple of days later, i noticed one of the crowns wasn’t fitted snuggly into the gum line as the other two, i even saw a small gap, i revisted the dentist who fitted bridge and he said it looked fine to him and being he has 46 years experience in dentistry and a good rep, i decided not to pursue my concern any further. However, a few weeks on i was still seeing the gap, and food fragments were dissappearing under the gum line, and reappearing the next day along with saliva, lastly, today i found the gap although still looking small, has dropped down enough for me to actually place a finger nail over the top of the crown.I plan to revisit the dentist and tell him all what i’ve told you, my question is, would any reputable dentist ignore this situation? yours sincerely
