am just wondering how effective sedation is? i am very scared of the dentist but after having terrible toothache for a week i had no choice but to go he told me the tooth needed taking out and i calmed myself enough for him to inject the gum and loosen the tooth then after 5 attempts of removing the tooth told me he could not do it i was sent home in agony and shock now i know i cant try this again without sedation..or could i even be put to sleep?,

Monday, October 4th, 2010
Q.
Hello, Well first of all I am a complete dental phobic !! But now I have I know got to get to my GP as my teeth are awful. I am so scared that I will have to have all my teeth out. And in Hospital. All my back teeth on both sides are awful on left and right, leaving bottom and top ones.in otherwords finding food very awkward to eat unless soft foods. But is it at all possible to get dentures on the NHS ? So I can eat? I am a total wreck, going through a bad time, fearful also bad hormones etc. Regards. Ps I also suffer from anxiety and panic attacks.,

I don’t want dental phobia to ruin my smile. Can you recommend a dentist?

Thursday, September 16th, 2010
Q.
I have always had a phobia about dentists but have managed it for the past 20 years however after a recent bout of depression am now absolutley terrified.I have recently plucked up the courage to go the the hygienist as I know how important it is and have not been as good at looking after my gums (have had problems with them for years) to get back on track, I have lots of crowns and really try hard to look after them as best I can. I was left with the impression I will eventually loose all my teeth to gum disease which I know i have to come to terms. However I am willing to do what it takes to keep them for as long as I can. I would really like to find a dentist I can trust bit dont know where to start looking. I live in Stamford Lincolnshire, but would be willing to travel to the right dentist. Do you know where I could begin to start looking for one? I dont know many people in the area so asking around is not really an option. I would be very grateful if you could help, also am thinking of getting some private insurance but dont know where to start!! Sorry this is long winded would be grateful for any advice. Thank you,

Why should I be on sedation while removal of tooth?

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009
Q.
I had my tooth out recently but upon extraction the tooth broke leaving the roots still in my gum, i have now been referred to a specialist to have the remainder out. It says in the letter that i will be under sedation, what does that actually mean i am a very nervous patient and suffer with panic attacks. Can you help?
