Can i get my teeth taken out under general anesthesia at the hospital?

Monday, August 24th, 2009
Q.
Hello, back in october last year i had 8 teeth removed,2 months later i had a dental absess that ingulfed my face. i had to have surgery and more teeth removed as they plugged the absess. in that time i had the inside of my mouth cut open in 2 places with a scalpul and an epidural needle plunged into my face. as a result of this i have had a nervous breakdown and think about my mouth 24 hours a day. i have only 7 teeth on the top set left, 2 have extreme long tooth and 2 are crowns, the bottom i have 9 teeth all my fronts mainly and one side which i use to eat. they need a very deep clean.now since all this has happened i have tried to go to the dentist but i have huge panick attacks and vomit my nerves are shot, i even tried to go via sedation but even the though of needles etc coming near me sends me into tears and i cant breath. as i cant seem to deal with this would i be able to have my teeth taken out under general at the hospital, and if so how would i go about doing this. would be grateful for any advice.

I find going to the dentists extremely nerve wrecking

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009
Q.
Hello, I find going to the dentists extremely nerve wrecking and just can’t seem to bare it. Because of this I have not been to see the dentist for nearly ten years and am so embarressed about my teeth. The problem started twenty years ago when I found out I needed a brace and had to have 4 teeth out ready for it. When it became time to have it done I had the injections and was told to wait outside with my mum whilst my gums went numb. I had 4 injections and waited, I got called back in but when the dentist tried to remove the teeth I could still feel it. He gave me another four injections and the treatment went ahead. This was simply the worst experience I have endured and to this day still have nightmares. I have had some fillings since but found this really upsetting, so now I’m left with wonky teeth which are not very bright, my gums sometimes bleed when brushing and I have noticed small holes appearing in a few teeth. I have been telling myself to do something about it for years and even joined our dentist at work but cannot bring myself to go. I am now a father of three beautifull children and when I tell my oldest son he has to go to the dentist he asks me to take him. I make excuses and his mum takes him. I just feel pathetic and get so down about my teeth and smile I hate myself and and how I am about this. Please I need some advice as to where to find a dentist to sort this out, I have been told by friends I can be knocked out and treated…. I would travel to the ends of the world just to be able to smile in public again. I don’t know what to do. Sorry to go on and thank you for your time and patience.

I am 23 years old my teeth have started rotting

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008
Q.
I am 23 years old. I have had 3 children, and during my pregnancies my teeth started rotting, so me being pregnant, thinking I could not help. I did not go. I stopped brushing my teeth for awhile because they would hurt, my gums would be very tender and bleed (they still do). I try to brush my teeth now and I still have the same problem. I have a lot of holes, a missing k-9 tooth, a couple of rotting wisdom teeth, missing moullers. It hurts sometimes no matter what I eat. It seems as though when I chew my teeth are going to just break. I’m so afraid of losing my teeth but I’m afraid of pain and I don’t like to hear my teeth being pulled out, that sounds awful. I know I should go see a dentist and I really want to, but money is always an issue. My credit is awful but I need help so bad. My mouth is falling apart and I’m so sad about this that it almost makes me feel depressed and I don’t like to smile or even open my mouth. I don’t even like to kiss anymore!! 🙁 please help do I still have a chance?

Q.
Hi Komai I am a very nervous person about Dentists and am 22 yr old student who also has never had any work done on my teeth i have had consultations done but too scared too go back because the dentist was really nasty to me for never going(my parent never took me) but i really have lost all confidence and don’t want to smile or look in the mirror. I would really love to have cosmetic dentistry and start over with a new smile. Do you think that you could get this done on the NHS as i cant really afford the cost of the treatment as im still at uni . regards

Unfortunately I had a fall in August and knocked my front teeth

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008
Q.
Unfortunately I had a fall in August and knocked my front teeth. The tooth to my right of my front teeth is a crown fitted to a post and my dentist says I have fractured a nerve here. Consequently I have had an abcess and severe pain since early September. The tooth needs to be extracted. My dentist has referred me to an implant specialist but I am a dental phobic – and because I am already in pain I am frightened of the drilling involved with the implant. The alternatives ie. bridges, dentures etc, although cheaper, all seem to have their problems. Can you advise me? As the tooth is so important to my smile etc (I am 53 years old)

I have sensitive teeth and need a gentle dentist

Sunday, July 6th, 2008
Q.
I am not the best dental patient though have always attended (with great anxiety), and when i need treatment have always needed quite alot of local anaesthetic before I am pain free. I also have sensitive teeth when brushing which appears to be due to some small ridges at the top of my teeth (about 4 teeth) near my gums.(too sensitive for dental hygeine so lot of personal time to keep clean). I would love to have both straighter and whiter teeth though did not know if this would be possible with sensitive teeth and whether this could be remedied. (I would also need a very patient and gentle dentist!)
