Is it possible to get a bridge after having a tooth extracted instead of dentures?

Friday, November 19th, 2010
Q.
Hi! i have a big problem whith my teeth. After a check up to a NHS dentistry i was informed i need to extract the 5th tooth down right because it’s damage and the same dentist told me i need a denture (after 3 month from extraction)because the 6th one have a filling and there it’s nothing to do.In january i had the 3th fill on 5th tooth and the other dentist told me i can have a fill then a crown. I ask her if is posible to have a bridge but the answer was you can’t .Know i don’t know wat to do do because i’m only 25 and a denture can be only a temporary solution for that tooth. I read on the internet i can go to private dentist and have a bridge. Can you please give me a answer about what do you think is better to do in that case? Thank you,

What procedures are available to reconstruct my broken teeth?

Friday, November 19th, 2010
Q.
Hi. I have fron teeth with two upper ones broken at gum level. No others except some broken gum level side ones. I had a dental bridge about a year ago but it fell off and the teeth under it are now at gum level and black. I’m diabetic and horrified of visiting a dentist because i don’t know what is going to happen. Kindly let me know of the procedure that will be followed and if I will be able to have clip ons or will all my teeth have to be pulled out? Many thanks for your help.,

What durable dental options are availble to fix chipped front teeth?

Thursday, November 18th, 2010
Q.
Hello Dr, I have a question. I’ve chipped both of my front teeth when i was 12 (now I’m 24) it’s like an upside down V, both chipped diagonally in half..since then I’ve had a dentists put in new bits yearly but as they fall out yearly and are fragile and this costs me every year this sems to not be the best option. How would you suggest i fix this, what is required from me and how much roughly is this likely to cost?

What is the process for crown and veneer replacement and how does a gum graft procedure work?

Thursday, November 18th, 2010
Q.
Hi Mark, I was the victim of violent crime some 10 years ago where I21 and 22 were knocked out, taking much of the surrounding gum tissue and bone with them and I 11 was cracked in half. I received treatment at the Leeds Dental Institute back in 2001 where they placed two implants, abutments and crowns in and cemented then veneered I11. It was decided by the surgeons at the time that, due to the large amount of discharging bone fragments, that to risk a gum graft was not sensible. Therefore I currently have a slight lack of gum surrounding I21 / 22. I am not happy with the positioning or visibility of the crowns today. Recent x-rays show that the implants are perfectly healthy with no further receeding of the surrounding tissue or bone. I am interested in understanding the process for replacing both crowns and the veneer to more aethetically pleasing versions, combined with a tooth whitening process. At the same time I would like to specifically understand how a gum graft can be factored into this proceedure and what the inherent risks are today and the likely costs of such treatments. I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

I feel that my crown and bridge might be loose. What can I do?

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010
Q.
I have four crowns on my front teeth that were originally placed there when I was 18 ( now I’m 58) About four years ago a dentist replaced one tooth by a bridge, and also performed an apexectomy which left a “ledge” above the tooth. Now the whole area is feeling mobile but specifically the crown which is holding the bridge. As these are my front teeth I am very anxious about my appearance but the teeth. What can I do ? I don’t have a lot of confidence in my dentist. Thank you,

Which is the toughest type of crown?

Monday, October 4th, 2010
Q.
I had two veneers on my upper front teeth. I’ve had problems with them coming off. One has come off and I’m now going to get crowns. I really want something hardwearing but which also looks good. Can you advise whether metal bonded ones or pure porcelain ones are the toughest?.,

Do you have advice on crowns and fixed bridges?

Monday, October 4th, 2010
Q.
I have lupus. My 2 front bottom teeth are in a bad condition – broken. My dentist recomended a resin bonded bridge (temp)- I would prefer a fixed bridge but with the lupus i am not sure what other options are available. To be honest most of my bottom teeth are in a bad state and i already have about 4 crowns – I will appreciate any advise. Thanks,
