I recently had my teeth crowned for cosmetics reasons

Sunday, October 19th, 2008
Q.
I recently had my teeth crowned for cosmetics reasons. However my bottom teeth look lopsided i.e. one side is “lower than the other so that when I smile my smile looks crooked. I don’t know how to better describe this. As important I have one heck of a lisp which I did not have before the crowning of all my teeth. I feel self conscious when I speak to someone not to mention that I do TV film work and need to speak on a commercial. Is this a side effect of having all of the teeth crowned? Thank you for any suggestion you might have for my dilemma.

Please advise whether it is worth visiting a cosmetic dentist

Saturday, October 11th, 2008
Q.
Please advise whether it is worth visiting a cosmetic dentist problems are as follows. I had braces fitted as a child as I had a very bad over-bite. The problem was never completely resolved, in my mid twenties I had caps fitted (x4) to try and improve the condition, which slightly improved the appearance. Teeth became infected and I had to have x 3 root fillings gums have now receded. 2 years ago I had an accident and my front tooth from knocked out and a cap is now attached to a peg – which is now loose. I am still very unhappy with the look of my teeth I never smile and I am becoming more and more depressed. Is there any way of straightening my teeth and improving the appearance?

I have lost my confidence and try not to smile

Monday, September 29th, 2008
Q.
Hi, I’m 25 years old and when i was 15 fell over an knocked out my front tooth. This was replaced with a crown. Recently i have took an abcess in my other front tooth and I also have a few filings. I do brush regularly and use mouth wash although I do not floss. My uncrowned front tooth as now discoloured and as i drink black tea and coffee I need my teeth whitened although with my crown this has always stopped me doing so as the crown would show more. I have lost my confidence and try not to smile often as i am not happy with my front teeth now. I would like them replaced but want them to look as real as possible whilst getting my teeth whitened a little. Is it possible for them to look like normal teeth and if so which, crowns of veneers etc and should this be done at a dentist or cosmetic company. Many thanks any advice welcome.

How do temporaries fit onto your teeth

Monday, September 29th, 2008
Q.
Hi There Dr. Suri, How do temporaries fit onto your teeth, I know that they are probably attached all together and not separate. I am wearing temporaries now but can’t tell if my own teeth has been slotted into a space…sort of like a mouth guard. they do feel that this may be the case as the underneath of the top teeth feels very high and my mouth does not relax totaly when I close it.? I live in London.

I have had ongoing problems with my teeth for many years

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008
Q.
Hi doctor, I have had ongoing problems with my teeth for many years, e.g. a small filling, then larger aone then crown then the post crown snapped and i had tooth extracted… i moved onto a maryland bridge as not to effect good teeth…. this has been a similar story for alot of my teeth,,,, at times my crowns have felt low…as i clench my teeth when sleeping i feel that this has put pressure on my teeth over the years and i am now left with only two teeh on my right lower side and one of those is a crown… I am now going down the implant route, overall I need maximum 4 or minimum two, however I am worried that my clenching will cause the same damage to the implants??? Also, I do really like my dentist however, I dont know whether to get a second opinion, as I feel disloyal and would I really use another dentist as I have been with my dentist for 20 years….. but do I know whether she has provided my with high quality treatment ???? My dentist used to be nhs and treatment felt rushed as she was very busy, (the practice is in the most prestigious area in the city)… Now as a private dentist it still feels rushed?? are these good signs??? I feel so vunerable right now and unconfident…. I have looked for information on what makes a good dentist but to no avail as information is very broad and non specific….please help
