My two central incisors are chipped on the frontal side

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Q.
Hello :)I’m not too sure how this happened, but my two central incisors are chipped on the frontal side. The dentin is actually showing through on one. There are deep lines on those teeth – best way to describe it. It’s painful and sensitive. I’ve been told to get veneers(too expensive for me), but I was wondering if it would be possible to put a composite material on it and polish. Do you have any suggestions. I’m in dental school right now, so hopefully once I get in an office maybe veneers could be an option.Right now, it’s not resonalbe for me though.

My sons tooth is chipped and he finds it sharp while inhaling and is painful when cold fluid is in contact

Q.
My 9 year old lad has chipped his front tooth after hitting a wall. He jhas lost about 25% of the tooth and is in no real pain. He does however find it sharp when inhaling through his mouth and painful when cold fluid hits it. What is the best course of action to take? It is his 2nd tooth so no more to come through. As his father, I am quite anxious. Regards

I had some small lower front fillings replaced and tooth shaping

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009
Q.
I had some small lower front fillings replaced the other day, by a dentist new to me. I’m pleased overall with the look of them but towards the end of the session, I realised he was using something a bit like a nail file. I thought he must be shaping the filling material but discovered when I came to pay that ‘tooth reshaping’ was on the list of treatment. I didn’t want my teeth reshaped and since this work was done, about 2mm down the front from the top of two of the teeth has been feeling slightly rough to my tongue. Today, a small piece of something flat and almost transparent came away when I brushed my teeth. I’m worried that the dentist has caused some fracturing of the enamel and whether this will put my teeth at risk. They feel a bit more sensitive than they did. Could this be put right by a thin smeer of resin? I wish I’d asked what he was doing when he started using the file, or whatever.

I bit into a popular name dinner roll and chipped 3 maybe 4 teeth on a screw. I want to know what I should include for future cost for this claim?

I bit into a popular name dinner roll and chipped 3 maybe 4 teeth on a screw. I want to know what I should include for future cost for this claim? I was told to get a quote from a dentist on the repair as well as any future problematic cost of having these chipped teeth repaired. Also should I have them crowned capped or filled? I only get one check for the repair. Thanks!

The enamel on my front teeth has worn out and one of them is chipped

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009
Q.
Hi, I’m a 28 year old woman. I have noticed through the years that the enamel has worn away on my two front top teeth and I have a little chip on one of them. No one else in my family has the problem. I do like a fizzy drink and did drink alcho pops a lot when younger… What do you recommend I have done? My dentist said that I could have white fillings on the front of my teeth to protect them and for cheapness or I could have veneers? Obviously they are expensive. How much would it be roughly? I am concerned as they don’t look too nice and would like to get it sorted soon. Thanks

I have chipped yellow teeth with thin enamel can I get veneers on nhs?

Monday, March 30th, 2009
Q.
My teeth are jagged (from child hood grinding in my sleep)and also slightly yellowing. Futhermore, the front quarter of my tooth is now chipped. The enamel on my left front tooth is so thin on the bottom (see through) that it looks likley to do the same at some point. I have Cystic Fibrosis which means that I have had to eat a high calorie diet to sustain my weight from birth and I also take regular antibotics orally and via a nebuliser and inhalers which have not helped either. I also have severe vitimain D deficiancy which I am on medication for. My dentist is unsympathetic. Her latest attempt at covering my chip looks terrible and discoloured. In three years I have had the tooth filler/cover re-done four times already as it keeps coming off. It means that I not avoid certain foods such as apples for instance. Its starting to affect my confidence. Do you think I would be a suitable candiate for veeners and would I be able to get them on the nhs? I cant really afford them but at 26 I just want a solution that will protect my own teeth (especially the enamel) and that is strong and long lasting so that I can smile with confidence. Thank-you.

I need a filling for my bottom teeth which is chipped

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
I am 14 years of age. And my teeth are really good the way that they are set out but the straightness really upsets me and knocks my confidence big time. My top teeth are good its more my bottom one’s as between the two main ones there is a slight chip which i would like filling in so it goes away. And one of my teeth next to one of the main ones has a bit out of it and i would like that sorting out same goes for the tooth on the other side. Would this cost anything. Please get back to me. Thank you very much.

my teeth are chipped at the top

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009
Q.
Hi Andrew, Was wondering if you could help. I have a number of problems with my teeth which may all be related to the same issue. I have been grinding my teeth for years and appear to have chips at the top of a number of my teeth by the gum line which my dentist has said were caused by this. These areas are slowly eroding and I also have a receeding gum problem which is making it look worse – I am not sure if I have gum disease. Is there are cosmetic dentistry that an be done to prevent it happening further and to cover the problem i.e veneers or filling in the holes? – I am only 29 and my gums are receeding quite a bit now which I am bit worried about – I also have quite yellow teeth and wondered if tooth whitening was a problem on already eroded teeth? All the best
