Should I just have the root filled tooth extracted and replaced with an implant?

Friday, August 27th, 2010
Q.
I recently lost a single rooted tooth on the right hand side of my lower jaw. It is not one of the front ones and l think it is a number 5? The tooth had fractured vertically and there was an abcess underneath. Moving back toward the back of my mouth, the tooth next to the missing one, has more than one root but had to be root filled and crowned which has done well but has a small amount of decay just showing on an x ray I’d just like to know whether it would feasible to take out the root filled tooth and put the implant in that socket and let it support a completely new missing single rooted tooth?,

My midline and my bite are off centre and I can’t afford metal braces. What is the next best thing?

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010
Q.
hi, my teeth are in a bad way. when i was younger my baby teeth werent coming out and my adult teeth were begining to grow on top of them, so i had a mass extraction of my teeth but unfortunately they left an extra tooth in the top arch making my teeth shift to the right and an extra tooth in the bottom arch making them shift left. the result is my midline is off and so is my bite. I cant afford metal braces but that is what has been recommended. what is the next best thing?,

I’m having a problem with pressure when my back teeth touch. Is this something that can be addressed with braces?

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I am female, 24 years old and I was meant to get a brace when I was 12 years old, but it never went ahead. I booked a consultation for September to find out about a Fixed brace to correct some slight overcrowding/crooked teeth (I have already had one consultation). But I am now starting to wonder if I have a problem with my jaw too. My dentist (and the Ortho at my first consultation) told me I have quite a deep overbite (not an overjet), so my top front teeth pretty much cover my lower front teeth when I bite down. I have noticed lately that when I close my bite (make my back teeth touch) I feel pressure on parts of my lower jaw (towards the back of the jaw, near the ear area). It feels as if someone is literally forcing my lower aw back further than feels comfortable. When I release my bite and part my teeth (so that my back teeth are no longer meeting/touching) the pressure is released and feels much more comfortable. I find myself keeping my teeth apart like this most of the day to avoid the discomfort that I experience in my lower jaw when I make my back teeth touch. Does this sound like something that can be fixed with fixed braces? Is it possibly due to my overbite and the fact that my top teeth tilt slightly inwards (towards the inside of my mouth) so then my lower teeth have to go further backwards to fit behind upper teeth, causing my jaw to ache by being too far back. I am finding this rather difficult to explain, hopefully I have made some sense. Kind regards,

We can’t afford phase 2 of our sons brace treatment, will this be detrimental to his health?

Monday, July 19th, 2010
Q.
My son has had braces for 2 years and phase 1 has been completed (teeth have been pulled and there are no more crooked teeth). My husband and I cannot afford phase 2, which consists of correcting his slight overbite. We have opted to have his braces removed at the end of this month. Will this be detrimental to his health?,

I suffer from sharp pains after my old bridge was replaced with a new one, why is this?

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I had a bridge fitted over 20 years ago and it has been fabulous – not a moments trouble with it. I recently underwent a course of tooth whitening and so the bridge needed to be replaced. The new bridge was fitted a few days ago but I now have sharp pain when I bite down. Does this sound like a problem with the bridge or the abutement teeth? thanks.

Will porcelain veneers work in my particular case?

Thursday, May 27th, 2010
Q.
I just came from the orthodontist today to get a quote on how much it will cost to fix my teet. hthe problem is my lower jaws is over develop and my upper jaw is very small, so my teeth is very crooked. There’s no space for all my top teeth so they actually came out on top of eachother. Do you think the porcelein veneers will actually work on me?,
