My midline and my bite are off centre and I can’t afford metal braces. What is the next best thing?

Q.
hi, my teeth are in a bad way. when i was younger my baby teeth werent coming out and my adult teeth were begining to grow on top of them, so i had a mass extraction of my teeth but unfortunately they left an extra tooth in the top arch making my teeth shift to the right and an extra tooth in the bottom arch making them shift left. the result is my midline is off and so is my bite. I cant afford metal braces but that is what has been recommended. what is the next best thing?,

My canines and lateral incisors are out of proportion with the rest of my teeth. What is the cheapest way I can resolve this issue?

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010
Q.
Hello and thank you for your time. My teeth are really affecting the way I feel about myself. My two front teeth are ok but my ‘Lateral incisor and Canine’ teeth on both sides are not in proportion to the rest of my teeth. My ‘Canine’ teeth are like baby teeth and my previous dentist told me this would grow but I am now 20, 21 in Dec and I think its safe to say “they wont”. As I am a student, I would like advise on the cheapest way I can fix my problem. I am also considering ‘Lumineers’ . Please help me resolve my issue. Thank you so much!,

Can I get NHS treatment due to congenital defect, and if so how?

Friday, August 13th, 2010
Q.
I have had very gappy teeth all of my life, I am currently 25. Growing up, when I saw my local dentist, he would always say that I would have to wait for my wisdom teeth to come through, so I have had nothing done. Following a recent x-ray there are definately none coming through. About five of my teeth never grew at all, and I have several baby teeth (which have started to drop out) and some teeth which have grown in the wrong place. All in all it looks a mess, with a 7mm gap between my front teeth. I have recently seen a private dentist who within about 5 seconds of me sitting down said I probably have ectodermal dysplasia. After the consultation she advised it would be £15 to £20k to put right. The teeth are now becoming a problem, mainly because I mumble when I talk so that I dont show my teeth and never smile. I am sure it is impacting my career and want to do something about it, however I can no way afford those costs. My initial trawl of the web indicates I may be eligible on the NHS to receive treatment due to ‘congenital defects’. In your experience do I have a strong case and if so what is the next step? Thanks in advance.,

I pulled and my baby tooth. The new tooth had stopped growing and the tooth’s turned black. Do I have tooth rot?

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010
Q.
At 15, I still had a few baby teeth left, one was loose, and so I pulled it out, which I know was a bad idea, but it was annoying. The whole tooth came out, and a new one grew in it’s place, however, the growth has stopped just above gum level. Over the last 2 years, the tooth appears to have turned black, and when I press my finger to the gum, I’ve noticed it smells, but it does not affect my breath at all. I mentioned it to my dentist once, but she said she would keep an eye on it, and it was nothing to worry about. My dentist hasn’t mentioned anything about it since, and I suffer none of the pain regarded with tooth rot.,
