Should my son get crowns or have cosmetic bonding to fix two broken front teeth?

Q.
My 19 year old son has knocked half of his two front teeth out on the ice rink. Would you recommend cosmetic bonding or crowns? Which would last the longest & what would they cost?
A.
Hello, thank you for your enquiry.

Oh dear I’m so sorry to hear your son has broken half his front teeth!

Composite bonding has come a long way since we first started doing it and the results by leading cosmetic dentists are beautiful and look as natural as they did before his teeth broke. Composite bonding can last as long as crowns depending on how well he looked after them and also if he plays sports, bites on hard foods or takes another knock. Composite bonding starts at our practice from £300 per tooth but is dependent on what is required.

Crowns are an excellent restoration and usually last at least 5 years. However, crowns are more destructive to tooth tissue then simple composite bonding but your son would need a full cosmetic consultation to know all of your options. Cosmetic crowns start from £695.
