Should I just have my problematic tooth extracted?

Q. Hi. I had root canal on molar Number 18 twenty years ago. The tooth then became infected 10 years later and a second root canal was performed drilling through the crown. Now, This same tooth has become infected again. One of the dentist in my dentist’s office feels it would prove beneficial to have the tooth extracted. I am a bit apprehensive considering this same dentist sent three patients before me on the same day to the oral surgeon to have one of their teeth extracted. With the history of my tooth, could it be treated with antibiotics or do you feel extracting it makes more sense. I am 38 years old and would hate to start losing teeth now. I appreciate whatever input you have to offer. Kind Regards.,
A. Its hard for me to tell but if you’ve had the root canal done twice the prognosis for the tooth is very poor. Perhaps you could have an implant after the tooth has been removed and the bone healed?
