My three year old son has lost his front teeth is there anything be done to save the tooth?

Q. Hello, I am writing to you regarding my three year old son. About two weeks ago he banged his front teeth on the side of the bath and now one of the teeth has lost all of it’s whiteness and gone dark gray. Our dentist says the tooth will have to come out but I would dearly like to get a second opinion on whether the tooth can be saved (I have read on the Internet about something called a pulpotomy?). I suppose what I am asking is can anything be done to save the tooth and make it look normal again and where can I go to get this done? I live in the north west of England, but would obviously travel to get the problem fixed properly. Many thanks for your time Best regards

A. Hello. Complex treatment on a very young child is very difficult and can be very traumatic for all concerned. Often the tooth will darken very quickly but not give any further symptoms. I personally would wait and see what developes over the next few weeks. if your son is in pain then probably, removal at the local hospital is your best option, sometimes these teeth can last a long time before any symptoms develope.
