My teeth are yellow again even after having my teeth whitenened, why has this happened?
Q. Dear Dr Kailesh Solanki, I had my teeth whitened last week using the Enlighten system. After the treatment my teeth looked really white and I was really pleased with the result. Anyway a week on, my teeth are yellow again. They are almost back to the same shade as before I had the treatment done. I am feeling very disheartened. I am wondering if there is any reason why they are returning to the original shade when I have been looking after my teeth and using the home care kit? Kind Regards,
A. After all whitening systems, you will always get a re-bound effect on the shade of your tooth. This is because the whitening will dehydrate your teeth and will appear lighter. Once fluid gets back into yourteeth, they will appear darker again. The whiter you want to go, then the more you should do the home whitening. You also need to remember that for at least 24 hours after you have whitened your teeth, you should avoid any heavily coloured foods and drinks to prevent the colour from transferring til the teteh have fuly hydrated again. There will come a point when your teeth will not physically lighten any more. This shade varies with different people and circumstances. I hope this has helped.
