My son has a sever pain after he had his permanent cap what is the fix?

Q. My 34 year old son had a permanent cap on his lower back tooth. After the proceedure he had sever pain in his jaw and cannot eat or close his teeth together. For 3 weeks he has eaten nothing but soup – he cannot chew anything. He was given heavy muscel relaxers which he took for 4 days with no results. I think it is a nerve problem. The dentist seems not worried. What should he do.

A. It sounds like the crown is high or the nerve of the tooth is involved. i would recommned removing the crown if the pain does not go.
