My husband’s dental bridge has broken for the third time. Why is this happening?

Q.
Hello Dr.,
My husband has had a temporary 6-tooth bridge fitted (for his front teeth)
however, this bridge has now broken for the third time (even though he is being careful what he eats). The first one that was fitted trapped his gums and was very uncomfortable. The second one broke off at both ends. The third one broke off at one end and at his request, the tooth has been cemented back in, but is cutting into his gum which is now very sore and a little inflamed. Is he right to be extremely nervous about having the permanent one fitted and is he perfectly within his rights to request a temporary that he is happy with first ?
Your input would be much appreciated. Thankyou
A.
Temporary crowns/bridges are not always the best fit, the larger the bridge (and a 6 unit bridge is quite large) will sometimes break because of the material they are made of and they can occassionally be uncomfortable. This should not reflect on the the outcome of the permanent bridge and its stability. You maybe should contact your dentist to explain how you feel about the temporary bridge and see if he has any more stable solutions.
